Guest guest
MedStar EMS, the exclusive EMS provider for Fort Worth and 14 surrounding cities, will be in Galveston this Wednesday and Thursday (April 9th and 10th)to meet with EMTs and Paramedics that may be interested in becoming a medic in the MedStar EMS system. If you are interested in meeting with us, please feel free to call a Shivers at: , or Macara Trusty at: . We would be happy to schedule a time to meet you and discuss all MedStar EMS has to offer. Some system details are listed below: Our system is the 12th largest in the nation (based on the population served), with an annual operating budget in excess of 22 million dollars. MedStar responded to over 92,000 calls in 2007, with over 95% of those being Emergent calls. We also provide a Mounted EMS Team, Bike Team, and special event EMS for the annual Stockshow and Rodeo, NASCAR/IRL races, and concerts. Paramedics function under the Medical Direction of Dr. Griswell and the Emergency Physician's Advisory Board (EPAB). Advanced skills include 12 Lead EKG, Capnography, Crash Airway (pharmacologically assisted intubation), and a current ROC study (study on increased sodium infusion on trauma patients). There is a good mix of medical and trauma calls that provide a vast array of patient care challenges which sharpen the skills of the medics in a high-performance environment. Currently, there are over 300 employees supporting this operation, the vast majority of which are EMT's and Paramedics. Clinical and educational support is provided for all full-time and part-time employees, including an in-house Paramedic program, Instructor Methodology course, Cadaver labs, quarterly continuing education opportunities, card classes for ACLS, PHTLS, PPC, AMLS, GEMS, and others. Each ambulance is generally staffed with a Paramedic and an EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Basic, although there are occasionally dual Paramedic units. Multiple shift options are available in 12-, 16-, or 24-hour durations. MedStar offers shift differential for certain shifts. Guest guest
Hi Macara, Can you send me Dr. Griswell's email address? I am working on an article for EMS Magazine and I would like to get his ideas about it. BTW, there's a two-day SLAM course with cadaver lab at UNT this Sat and Sunday. If anybody is interested, have them go to airwayeducation.com. Thanks. Gene Gandy, JD, LP EMS Educator and Consultant 4250 E.
