Can some of the providers on the list provide some information on which

companies insure ambulances. Are there any Texas based companies? Which ones

provide quality coverage for a reasonable price?

This information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne

We use VFIS so that we can get coverage for our Medical Director. The cost seems

to be about the same as other insurance companies.

Wayne,

VFIS and a couple of other companies will write only government agencies (city,

county, etc). Others will specialize in " not for profit " while some will write

only 9-1-1 providers of any sort.

The list shrinks when you start looking for companies to cover " for profit " &

" non-emergency " providers.

With that said, a lot of companies can and will write vehicle coverage and offer

a few of the other insurance coverages to protect the provider, employees,

patients and the general public from bad acts of the provider or crews.

My experience is that the better package plans available come at a price.

However, one gets what they pay for and cutting corners on your insurance

coverage is " risky " business (pun intended).

A suggestion - if you break your coverage into various insurance companies -

make sure you know which company you contact on the event of a loss. The story

has been told that one of the more common accidents is loading and unloading

patients which is component that is often missed when coverage is piece milled

together. That's likely only one example of many.

Don't take our word as fact. Contact one of the ambulance insurance

specialists, several are right here in Texas. Even if you don't " buy " their

coverage, utilize their knowledge. If you or your company is trying to cut cost

by reducing your insurance coverage you could be headed down a dangerous road.

My .02 worth, use it or not.
