Guest guest
Hi, I have a 12 year ASD son. Recently I have started B12 (1000mcg)oral and acetyl-l-carnitine 250 daily. He is taking co q10 for last 2 months. Just been few days. So hard to tell about improvements. Regarding explanation, my assumption is ASD is impairment of Nervous system. If you do research B12, and other few vitamins are helping nervous system. I feel our kids needs more oxygen to their brain. Lots of supplements also do that also.So definitely we can see improvements. The difference is, in the amount they needed. SOme kids needs more mcg or mg in some vitamins and some need less. Due that only whe some kids see improvements others don't. It is supposed to pair well with ALCAR (acetyl-l-carnitine)B6 + magnesium is best, not just plain B6 and we didn't see much till we hit very large dosesof B6. We are using like 500mg sustained release (Source Naturals) or sometimesSolaray Dual Release 50/50 (50 mg immediate release / 50 mg delayed release)You might want to search pubmed regarding ALCAR (or spell it out) and brain inflammation andother brain things like alzheimers. I am not saying asperger's is a form of alzheimers LOL I amjust saying that some of the memory enhancers used in alzheimer's have helped ADD/ADHD/Asperger's types. Some of the studies may have hypothesis on why/how it works :-) I know, just know, there is someone out there who can explain this to me ...My daughter has Asperger's syndrome. She is thirteen years old. Each day she takes 12,000mcg. mB12 orally, 1,000mg. Valtrex (500mg. twice a day), a rotated strep-free probiotic, 4 NeuroProtek, (2 capsules, twice a day), 200mg. Minocycline (100mg. twice a day for acne), and an anti-yeast such as capryllic acid. Sometimes I throw in a B6 or P5P. She is also on a gluten/casein/soy/egg/preservative/dye-free diet for the past ten years. J. does not have celiac disease (had gene test).Brilliant progress when she went on the diet. Brilliant progress when mB12 added. Brilliant progress when Valtrex added. Brilliant progress when NeuroProtek added. Probiotic and anti-yeast are just maintenance. Nothing much happens when I add B6 or P5P.Earlier this week I added 500mg. Acetyl L-carnitine (250mg. twice daily). Wow! The fog is lifting. She is showing a facility and ease with language that is quite lovely. Seems more in-tune with social stuff. But why? Can anyone tell me?This is more than idle curiosity. J. just finished a three month trial on Ritalin, Concerta, and Vyvanse. They left her dazed and stupid and distressed with daily meltdowns and tantrums. She was focused on whatever floated in front of her and not able to think at all. I described it as like loosing 40 IQ points. She is not doing well at school and needs serious and immediate help to focus. I am supposed to be hunting for a psychiatrist to prescribe other meds, but I still believe that the answer lies with correcting deficiencies, not sedating her.A cogent explanation would help me focus on where to go next. Many thanks. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Click to find info about Vitamins and Minerals:http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150543521682565--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Click to find links to info about the Low Oxalate Diet :http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150543495292565------Toni------Mind like a steel trap...Rusty and illegal in 37 states.
