Guest guest
I am so confused. My son has been on Valtrex for 3 weeks and Nystatin in addition to the Valtrex for two weeks. I still don't see any big wow or major change...if anything I would say his behavior got way worse the first week and a half with Valtrex and then tappered off and then now its bad again. What kind of results are expected? How long does he stay on it? How do I know if it's working? How do you decide if you should stop and when? What should I be looking for through this? His allergist...who started allergy shots for his 40 allergies ..isn't a fan of DAN doctors and isn't thrilled he's on Valtrex and suggested he stop??? Is there a chance of mutation? Is is okay to do allergy shots and Valtrex? I am so confused...so emotional...so tired. Please help!
Guest guest
Cami, From what I have learned and read from others experiences as well is: Nystatin is not a good anti-fungal for treating the type of yeast our kids have. Nizoral for six months and then change to Diflucan for approximately one year may be a better choice in eliminating the persistent yeast overgrowth. As for the allergy shots, our kid's allergies and sensitivities to foods and other things are directly related to their damaged immune systems, inflammation and yeast. When your child recieves allergy shots while the immune system is still compromised, it sends a defense mechanism off in their bodies. It is better to avoid their allergies and sensitivities to foods and other things until you improve their detox pathways and immune system. For example: We do the GF/CF diet and also avoid strawberries, corn and rice because we know our son is sensitive to them and it triggers reactions that result in his behavior. Also, we know he is severely allergic to pecans and walnuts, so we carry and epi pen in case he accidentally comes in contact with them. When the immune system and inflammation gets under control, you will see these allergies go away. Are you seeing someone in the Houston area for the anit-viral/ anti-fungal therapy? Would love to know, been looking for someone to follow my son while on the NIDS protocol here in our area. Guest guest
i agree all of this is really confusing. i had my kid on diflucan and another anti-fungal and after six weeks (by which time her mood was bad and her sleep was terrible) i came off these drugs following the advice of susan owens who told me i was messing up her whole detoxing process. i then started my daughter on a LOD and saw some gains but nothing major and in the meantime was giving her crazy amounts of biotin and b6 and magnesium. her bowel movements were dreadful still and she still seemed to be basically miserable. i am absolutely convinced that many of my daughter's issues are gastro related. i have since started taking leia to do NAET. We have identified many things on her extremely limited diet that are just causing problems for her. So even more elimination is taking place. i have her on very few supplements. my NAET doctor says ideally you feed just one food type at a time. ie. carrots or avocado. at the moment my daughter can't even tolerate ground meat. meanwhile, as i have taken her off all this stuff, the hyper behavior has gone. the BMs go from perfect to soft. she is sleeping really well. there is no quick answer. but i guess if something is making your son miserable, then stop it. i am in favor of gentle approaches to healing. Guest guest
Cami, Sorry, I thought you were another Cami who is in our area. Ironically, we leave for Orange county Tues. am. My son is a patient of Dr. Kartzinel, in Irvine but we are flying into LA to see Dr. Goldberg and get started on the NIDS protocol. We are staying in Anaheim at Disneyland. If you wouldn't mind, let me know things we can do while there in Orange County. Thanks!
