Current compensation for starting fire fighters as of October 1st, 2007

Starting pay $30,549.00 - $32,747.00 (approx) per year (includes scheduled

overtime pay)

TMRS 20 year retirement with 7% 2:1 match

Automatic service update credits for TMRS

Fire Incentives Pay Available:

Intermediate Fire Certification $500.00 per year

Advanced Fire Certification $1000.00 per year

Master Fire Certification $1500.00 per year

EMS Incentive Pay Available:

Basic EMT $200.00 per year

Intermediate EMT $600.00 per year

Paramedic/Licensed Paramedic $5200.00* per year

(* $7200.00 per year after two years)

Requirements for the position of Firefighter I

Be at least 18 years of age

Be able to legally work in the United States

High School diploma or GED

Be able to read and write the English language

If applicable, military service with Honorable Discharge as stipulated on DD-214

Form

Meet the physical standards for the position

No history of any conduct which may affect suitability for firefighter/EMS work

Must have completed a TCFP accredited basic fire academy

Must have completed a Texas DSHS accredited Basic EMT course

Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License

Must be insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy

Pass a background check to insure applicant has not been convicted of a felony,

DWI, DUID, or a misdemeanor above class C, and no more than 5 traffic related

issues in the past five years

Pass a reference check

Pass an oral interview

Pass a pre-employment physical examination

Pass a pre-employment drug screen

Pass a written and agility test

Written testing will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 9:00am at City Hall,

900 Saddletree Court.

Candidates must have completed a City employment application prior to testing.

Candidates must have a valid ID to test.
