CHAIRS AND FEET Re: n has wheels!

Yeah, mine too. I think there were 2 men who brought mine in because I don't think my ramp was built then either. How is yours for going thru doors? I can go thru a regular front door with only 1" on either side, but can't get in any of the inside doors. So basically I can only use it for going in and outside. I have Steve guide it thru the front door as I don't have the ability to drive thru such an opening straight. Frustrating!!!

n you must have a different style than mine because mine doesn't fold. Also my feet didn't use to be very big, size 7, but after I put the weight on they went up to a 9, and then when my right foot started swelling I have to get a size larger for it. Hard to find shoes for 2 different sizes plus a wide width, and believe me I have tried over and over, and sent back so many! I also need a sole that won't stick to the floor as I can't lift my foot so I shuffle. :-)

So your chair was able to be loaded into the taxi? Lucky you, mine is huge and would never be able to go in a normal car.

n I'm so happy you have a power chair and you can actually get out of the house and go places in it. What a blessing to live in an area that allows you to do that. Can you get in it easily? I need help to get in mine. Can't lift my leg on the foot rest. But there's no place around here I can go by myself. [too rural] I'd love to be in an area where there are shops I could go into, and just be around people somtimes.

Keep on trucking! :-)

I can go through most doors if I am very, very careful and slow. My bedroom is at the end of the hall and when I rented the place I wasn't even sure if I would be able tog et the chair IN there, I can, but there is a little damage to the entry. Not too worried about it, it is just cosmetic and can be fixed, and he does have a $500 deposit from me! I can make it down the hall and into the room, but have to go all the way into the bedroom to turn around, the hall is too narrow.

I keep thinking it would be wonderful to live in one of those big loft apts where everything is wide open. [except the bathroom, and bedrooms] but the living area and kitchen are open, and of course the bathroom would be a walk in shower type like a locker room. I saw a movie once with someone in a wheelchair that had a set up like that and it looked perfect. How fun to be able to tootle around without barriers!!

My nephew, Greg, is disabled with Muscular Dystrophy. He has a huge roll-in shower and a special wheelchair he uses for showers. It's wonderful! SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Jackie,

I just mentioned the very same thing to the other day..

That I wanted to get out of this place (actually out of this

town) as soon as possible.. and that I'd love to find an old

barn somewhere that could be converted into something like

what you were talking about..

I have an open floor plan now.. but at 28 foot width by 40

foot length.. it's not quite as open as it should be for

tooling around in my chair.. He's always ragging on me about

remember those wheels that stick out behind.. but there

really is NO way to prevent some part of the chair from

touching some piece of furniture somewhere in the house..

The ONLY two place in this whole open floor plan thing.. is

the middle of the kitchen.. and then it has to be a precise

spot.. and the middle of the living room, again being a

precise spot, to being a 360 with that chair!.. LOL

Oh.. but finding even a small barn.. one could put in a lift

in one of the corners.. and the upstairs could be a fairly

open plan as well.. walls to separate the bedrooms.. but the

rooms could be huge!!!..

I'm with you

The foot

rest lifts

upwards

towards the

chair--for

getting in and

out.

For me, as I

have severe

peripheral

neuropathy,

the real

problem is

keeping my

feet on the

foot rest;

they are

bringing me a

new one with

sides on

it--not too

high. The

belt is a lap

belt and works

really well.

I actually

went clear

over to Edna's

last

evening--had

to--they had

acci

dentally left

the ringer on

their phone on

OFF!

I took a cab

back, but Edna

and her adult

son gave me a

wonderful

dinner and

coffee!

Love to you

all,

n
