Guest guest
Can I stake a claim for the Arizona Chapter? EMT Training AAOS Orange Book - 1972; EMT-A, first Brady yellow book?, 1976; EMT Intermediate, 1980; EMT-I Cardiac, 1982; Paramedic, 1984. I wore every certification patch Arizona issued, including the first EMT I patch which was only issued about 3 years before it changed (boy was it ugly). The joys of living in a rural area where ALS training was impossible to come by. Thank goodness for grants! From Cadillac to Mini-mod; from funeral home to high performance system; it has been interesting. I don't think location makes much difference when we begin to reach back. After a while it seems to blend together, but what a ride! Woody
Guest guest
I guess I'll play....got my EMT in 1974 in Cincinnati and was one of the first 8 Paramedics in the City of Cincinnati. Dr. Henry Heimlich personally taught us his NEW airway maneuver he was developing. Paramedic in 1976, no state test yet, trained at University of Cincinnati Medical School in trial program. Gentleman came down from Columbus, Ohio and told our class he was starting a little organization called National Registry and did we want to be early members. I had a really low number but gave it up when I moved to Texas and didn't need it since it wasn't recognized here. We had the Motorola Apcor radio to transmit EKG's and a huge heavy EKG monitor, can't remember the name. I moved to Austin in 1981 and have been with Austin EMS since....Bill Needles
Guest guest
So does the military count in on this " Dino-Medic " , was a combat medic in 1978, then after 6 years got out and got TDH certified in each of the levels. Took EMT/P at Amarillo College with Debbie Davenport as the instructor.
