Guest guest
hello all, my son has seizures which we believe are linked with something becoming high in his system. the dr treating him for the high measles titers has pointed out ammonia as maybe being a problem he also said that AKG can be taken to try to see if this would help. i am sure he said it helps breakdown protein.if anyone is aware of the use of akg 100mg three times a day, pls could you advise me. my son has irregular bowel movement and history of chronic constipation which has been helped by combination of mag in supps and buffered vit c at 3000mg daily. thanks tahira
Guest guest
Hi,I know there are quite a following of people who believe and support high dose vitamin C. If it works for you, great. However, vitamin C that is unused by the body converts to oxalate, and that can cause seizures (I do not have an article to supply you with.)I would consider transitioning to another anti-oxidant but not to convert suddenly b/c that can cause storedoxalate to " dump " from cells. This creates a regression that looks like yeast and/or PANDAS-flare behavior. There's a yahoo group called trying_low_oxalates.... many use AKG regularly, we use it occasionally. hello all, my son has seizures which we believe are linked with something becoming high in his system. the dr treating him for the high measles titers has pointed out ammonia as maybe being a problem he also said that AKG can be taken to try to see if this would help. i am sure he said it helps breakdown protein.if anyone is aware of the use of akg 100mg three times a day, pls could you advise me. my son has irregular bowel movement and history of chronic constipation which has been helped by combination of mag in supps and buffered vit c at 3000mg daily. thanks tahira -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Click to find info about Vitamins and Minerals:http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150543521682565 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Click to find links to info about the Low Oxalate Diet :http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150543495292565 ------Toni------Mind like a steel trap...Rusty and illegal in 37 states. Guest guest
I'm really liking astaxanthin for an antioxidant right now. We're going on AKG when I receive it on Monday or Tuesday, probably. We're using it to lower ammonia and to improve the uptake of B6. I'm starting at 100 mg, 3x day, but I'm aiming to work up to 300 mg 3x/day. Our DAN said this dosage is ok for my 4.5 y.o. and doesn't have a problem with us doing this for 6 months. I don't know a lot about seizures, but I have read from a few places that B6 deficiencies can be a cause of seizures. I was talking to a GI specialist last week and she mentioned she knows a number of neurologists who use B6 supplementation as one of the tools to control seizures. With that said, you mentioned that your son has high ammonia and has seizures. Because those two things are happening together and from what (little) I know about seizures, I'm guessing that your son's seizures might be related to him not being able to uptake B6 properly -- so even though you might be supplementing B6, he's experiencing a " deficiency " that may be causing seizures -- when B6 isn't properly absorbed, it will convert to ammonia. To me, it sounds like your son might do very well on AKG. Guest guest
thanks for this input. the astaxanthin, can it be used like buffered vit c to control bowel movement? also i have to confirm yet about the ammonia it may or may not be raised. however one thing is definite that the seizures he has continue despite trial of many antiepilepsy meds also that i give him 50mg p5p the active form of b6 however this has only partly helped the seizures.the AKG the dr wanted to put in to see if proten digestion became better and i suppose that would help ammonia if it was high. thanks for the thoughts,do you know who does AKG in the uk and where the antioxidant u mentioned can be got from. thks again tahira hello all, my son has seizures which we believe are linked with something becoming high in his system. the dr treating him for the high measles titers has pointed out ammonia as maybe being a problem he also said that AKG can be taken to try to see if this would help. i am sure he said it helps breakdown protein.if anyone is aware of the use of akg 100mg three times a day, pls could you advise me. my son has irregular bowel movement and history of chronic constipation which has been helped by combination of mag in supps and buffered vit c at 3000mg daily. thanks tahira -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Click to find info about Vitamins and Minerals:http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150543521682565--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Click to find links to info about the Low Oxalate Diet :http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150543495292565------Toni------Mind like a steel trap...Rusty and illegal in 37 states.
