Guest guest
Happy EMS week everyone...Someone sent this to me, and I got a good laugh, thought I would pass it along! Ron Rules of EMS Skin signs tell all Sick people don't b$% & h Air goes in and out, blood goes round and round, any variation on this is a bad thing. About 70% of the battery patients more than likely deserved it. When dealing with patients, supervisors, or citizens, if it felt good saying it, it was the wrong thing to say. All bleeding stops....eventually. All people will eventually die, no matter what you do. If the child is quiet, be scared. EMS is extended periods of intense boredom, interrupted by occasional moments of sheer terror. Always follow the rules but be wise enough to leave them sometimes. The severity of the injury(s) is directly proportional to the difficulty in accessing, as well as the weight, of the patient. If the patient looks sick, then the patient is sick. If the patient is sitting up and talking to you, then the patient is not in V-Fib, no matter what the monitor says. If its stupid, but it works, then it ain't stupid Always honor a threat They said, " Smile, things could be worse. " So we smiled and sure enough, things got worse!!! Always answer a newbie's questions. (you once asked them, too.) Always Trust bad feelings Death is a stabilization of the patient's condition. Training is learning the rules, experience is learning the exceptions. Never trust your rig, drug box, or airway bag to be fully stocked. (In spite of the assurances of the off going crew.) If you don't have it, don't give up. Adapt, improvise, overcome, (then call for a second unit). There is no such thing as a bad call. Only calls that didn't go the way you planned. Take comfort in the fact that most of your patients survive no matter what you do to them. EMS does not save lives, EMS is to care for people. It is 95% of what we do. EMS doesn't save lives we only " postpone the inevitable. " If a p/t tells you he/she is going to die, believe them they are probably right. (been there). All rhythms will eventually degenerate into one you will recognize and can treat. IF you ever go to a call and find the cops laughing on the front lawn...worry! **************Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? Get new twists on family favorites at AOL Food.
