Guest guest
Thanks for the tips/hints. I don't have a microwave. Being off-grid, the only way to run a microwave would be to start the generator. lol As far as the cold feet goes---what I do in winter when my feet get frozen is I use one of those foot warmers that you shake to activate. The ones I have are in an orange and red package. The brand name is Foot Warm-Up. I get them in the camping department at Walmart. hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. I wouldn't recoup body heat for hours and hours and hours.. I'd be sitting around with chattering teeth, asking to have the heat turned up.. while everyone else starts peeling off the clothes!! I've found a neat little trick.. though one has to be careful using it.. LOL.. Do you have a microwave? If you do.. take a bath towel and fold it short side to short side.. then short side to short side again.. then turn that rectangle into a tri-fold type deal.. (that's the way my mother always folded her towels).. put that towel in the microwave for ONE minute.. a minute and a half and the towel will start to scorch! (found that out the hard way).. but in one minute the towel will be nice and toasty.. doesn't hold the heat for an extended period of time, but sometimes one round of nuking the towel will work, sometimes it takes a time or two.. but wrap that warm towel around your feet (I put mine around the leg that goes into spasm most of the time.) and in no time you should be feeling the difference in your body.. don't know what it is, but it does work for me.. It might work for you too... I used to get into a nice warm/hot bath and soak for awhile, and that always worked.. get everything nice and toasty from the warm/hot water.. then get out and dry off quickly and jump into a set of sweats to retain the heat from the water.. but seeing as I would now have to be POURED out of the tub if I did that.. the towel seems to be a good replacement.. These days.. seems like when my feet get cold.. I'm done in.. and I have a very very hard time getting them warm again.. I suppose there is a good possibility that the heat from that towel reminds the blood in my body that it really does need to make the extended trip down and around into my toes and such.. LOL.. And just putting on a pair of heavy hunting socks, doesn't do the trick either.. I hate being cold.. and I really believe that I want to live in a place like Miami, Phoenix might work.. Houston.. anyplace where it's warmer than warm.. even maybe hot.. cooling off sure seems to be easier than warming up! HUGS |)onna Do you use ice treds on your shoes? Where did you get the ice grip for your cane? That would come in handy here. I don't do well when my body gets cold. For instance today it was not cold (got up to 64) but I got a chill and have been trembling all afternoon and this evening. hugs Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. I live in Bessemer which is about 30 miles south east of Lake Superior. I have a hard time with the winters up here. I try and stay in as much as I can. If I have to go out I always have a cane that has ice grip on the end. Margaret A. Are you having snow yet? I used to know a girl from the UP. When I was in high school she and her parents were snowbirds (winter visitors) to Mesa, Arizona. She loved coming to the warm part of Arizona for winter. At that time I couldn't even begin to understand what it was like to live in all that cold weather. Later I moved here to my mountains and then to Alaska and now back to my mountains. Now I GET the snow and ice and cold. lol But back then it was so foreign to me. How do you do in the winter? hugs Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
I've used those.. only it was during hunting season, and when Bill was taking Earl with him, and leaving me to sit under a tree.. with a bear somewhere close by (you really can smell a bear.. and they stink).. but if you ever find yourself parked under a tree, smelling a stinky bear.. if you sit still, they will walk on by and not bother you.. At least they didn't bother me.. Good thing too, because even though I wasn't yet diagnosed my tree climbing skills had long since gone bye-bye.. (not to mention there weren't any low hanging branches to grab hold of anyway.. AND the rifle I held in my hand, was going to just barely put a deer down.. and would only have served to make the bear mad if I stung him with a bullet - No, I wasn't aware of any of these facts when I thought it would be a "great" idea to go hunting with the kid & the hubby as a "family thing"... LOL).. Those heat pads, did keep my feet warm for a couple hours inside those hunting boots. (once they were finished warming, and in what seemed like six foot of snow.. back to cold I went.. never could understand just HOW the hubby or kid kept their feet warm.. but I supposed the fact that they didn't have MS might have had something to do with that.) Sounds like a great idea for keeping things warm Sharon... especially if you have them inside slippers or some other form of keepa-the-toes-warm foot wear.. I just sit on the bed, trusty laptop beside me, and cover everything from the waist down with a quilt or comforter -- though the quilt seems to work better than the comforter. Usually works too!
