Thank you for this, !Love to you and your keyboard, and friend,nTo: MSersLife Sent: Sun, November 21, 2010 11:52:02 AMSubject: Re: / reply to Akiba and group

It sucks, but that's life. I'll be getting dragon dictate, but there are times when it's just not practical. I have a friend who is a complete quad, yet rarely uses it unless he has a lengthy letter to dictate. I've been playing with the windows version a bit lately.

You can actually change your keyboard through the regional language setup, then buy stickers (got mine on eBay) to place to show where the keys are. Here is an image of the keyboard I'm using:

That is

something I've wondered about . Just what would I do if

the MonSter took away the use of my hands, even if only

temporarily.. He keeps talking DragonSpeak and installing a copy

of that.. I suppose that it would or should work fairly well if

that every happens.. but I knock on wood for that one.. So far

I've been granted all my requests.. and those were.. If I have a

choice between MS and a brain tumor.. I'll take the MS please..

and then If I have a choice between my legs and my arms.. I'll

take my arms..

I'll keep that keyboard in mind.. it certainly sounds easier

than trying to type single-handed or fingered on a standard

layout keyboard..

Thanks

I can only type with one finger at a time, so switched to a Dvorak

right-handed keyboars since the keys are economically placed,

which means less hand travel.

n,

I also learned "touch" typing.. and not being

problems from time to time..

You should have been in our tech support

division, the day that switched the home

keys on the keyboard of the 1 other touch typist

in our department!.. He also brought in a TSR

(terminate & stay resident) program, then

installed it on the machine she was using.. one

by one the letters on the screen of whatever she

was typing dropped into a pile at the bottom of

the computer screen..

On another day.. she came back from lunch to

find her.. well everything that should have been

upside right on the monitor, was now upside down

on the monitor.. Once again.. compliments of

.. Fortunately.. he couldn't use those on

me, because I knew how to fix them.. (other poor

girl didn't).. So he got me with things like..

"When is a door not a door?" questions..

AND he wonders why she transferred out of

technical support and into the "business" tech

support side! and WHY I'm still living with

him.. LOL

On another list, one for cystic fibrosis--and

years ago, when my R.S.D.

was much worse (Google it) the members used to

keep track of my typos--

I remembered the gem I quoted from myself

because I actually sent it off

to a dear friend in Zimbabwe (yet!). She loved

it, and I suspect, told everyone

who spoke English in her environment--Zimbabwe

was formerly ia,

as in Cecil of Britain, so I fear that my

gaffs became legendary.

Then, for fun, I sent a post off to Sharon,

showing what happens if your

fingers (I was taught touch typing in secondary

school) are placed off

by one key--kind of looks like Czech or some

other Slavic language--

no offense intended to those who use those

languages.

Love to you, l)onna,
