Guest guest
Stef, This is Lester, 2 days post ablation. Just wondering if things have settled down since your immediate post ablation episodes? And how far out are you now. I seem to be having fairly frequent pac's, but not much afib, just short runs of less than a minute that go away by themselves. I'm still on my toprol, that they want me to taper off over the next month.
Guest guest
Hi Lester - I'm 10 weeks out tomorrow (yipee!). I had two minor events two days post ablation - both ended on their own after my next dose of Rhythmol. I had a couple events that were so short lived that I'm not even sure what they were, and by the time I got my hand up to feel my neck they were gone! The event of two weeks ago was blamed on too much synthroid, and since my dose has been halved I've been right as rain... not a skipped beat at all. I do, however, have to say that sometimes I think I feel a " fluttering " ... it's as if my heart it not beating just quite right... .BUT during these things my pulse (neck and wrist) is steady as she goes... they are not frightening nor uncomfortable... I just think to myself, " well, there's an odd rhythm " and then feel and think I must be nuts, since it's always steady! I go in next week for a 24 hour holter monitor and then on the 22nd, I go for my three month checkup. I am told that the first drug to go will likely be the Rhythmol, followed by the Cardizem, and Atenelol. Last will be warfarin. I'm actually glad it's last, since I will be very nervous to go off the rhythm and rate control and if I do go back into afib, it'll be nice to know that I'm still covered. I hope to be off everything by the end of August! You sound like you are making excellent progress, but I will caution you to take it easy for a while.. I know that's so tough to do when you feel good, but remember that they did alot of stuff to annoy your heart, and now it's time to baby it a little... no heavy yard work, no marathons.. pretend like you're on vacation for a while.. at least two weeks I'd say, no matter how good you feel! I was probably a good solid month before I felt completely ok heart wise. And what the heck.. a little R&R now may be just what the doctor didn't order, but what can it hurt Aloha!
