Also, optic neuritis or retrobulbar optic neuritis (loss of visionin one eye) can occur and fortunately usually responds well tocortico-steroid treatment.http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/optic-neuritis/DS00882/DSECTION=symptomsLove to you all, Kate and Carole, all,nFrom: Zodiac Lady

Kate asked: What sorts of symptoms accompany them, if youdon't mind me asking? The symptoms that accompany my flares are usually numbness on one side of my body, sometimes the left sometimes the right (mainly in my hands, arms and legs), pins and needles, muscle spasms (worse than normal), loss of balance, drop foot and a general unwell feeling (almost like a whole body ache like I have a flu or something). All of this is accompanied by pain and exhaustion.I've also had vertigo with one of my flares and a migraine with another one. This time the numbness is on my right side and it includes my face. Also I have pins and needles on my left hand and arm. I try to avoid steriods because I am also diabetic and they send my blood sugar screaming up to dangerous levels.I already take Gabapentin (for my nerve issues), Baclofen (for the muscle spasms), Arthritis Strength Tylenol (for the other pain), Amphetamines( for energy), and Ambien

(so I can sleep at night).I'm sure that I'm forgetting some of the lovely symptoms but those are the main ones.Keep smiling,CaroleM

n,Thanks for the link.... During one of my flares I had vision problems. I was scared it was the MS or even my diabetes.... turns out (thank goodness) it was just my bad eye sight. I already wear bifocals. Losing my vision is a HUGE fear for me. I love to read and I'm a high school librarian (although due to a new, nasty boss I'm looking to change jobs).Keep smiling,Carole (in very hot, humid ville)

Hi CaroleYou are a high school librarian? That must be an interesting job. Sorry though about the cruddy boss. That can sure ruin a good place to work, can't it?
