Guest guest
Thanks Sharon, I'm glad that I went too.. but I really didn't expect the outcome to be the UTI.. I've never had one.. and didn't feel any of the symptoms either.. well at least none that were noticeable.. frequency/urgency has always been a part of things.. so wasn't out of the norm.. didn't have any burning or pain.. at least not until last night, long after I took the first dose of Cipro.. and then when I did feel it.. it was like WHOA!!!.. Don't want this to become a habit.. that's for certain.. Well, I guess the UTI is actually better in the long run. , the Neurology Nurse, decided that it was a pretty good idea to come into their ER, and have the urine test.. because if it didn't come out positive then I would be admitted, then they could do the EEG that Doctor Jayden wanted (the neuro-ophthalmologist) to rule out a seizure being the cause of the bladder releasing AND they could have me on steroids if need be.. and while I was there to ask for the Rehab people to come in and evaluate, and insist that they send me over for inpatient rehabilitation.. where they "would" have my legs working again.. or kill me trying.. LOL.. Made sense to me.. but I'd have been inpatient over Thanksgiving and then most likely a week or two more.. The neurologist that did the consult in the ER wanted to know why I wasn't already on Ampyra.. and I didn't fib to him.. told him that I'd asked for it and that Doctor said to me.. "You want me to give you a medication that costs 13k a month, and you're not even taking your Copaxone like you're supposed to?" and that I agreed with the doctor.. but that I should be getting that prescription around February, cause I've been a good girl and have been doing what I'm supposed to.. LOL.. All in all, a fairly good experience (once again) with this hospital and the staff.. and I'm really hoping that the pain I'm feeling in my upper back, (T-4 area) is just the messed up nerves saying.. hey.. it hurts here.. but the actual pain is lower, and from the UTI.. Supposed to follow up with them next week as well.. but today I'm just too tired to make any phone calls.. so it will wait until Friday.. HUGS |)onna Donna... Guest guest
Hi Donna,....my very first UTI was after a car accident and they found blood in my urine and thought it was from the seat belt that held me tightly in my seat [lap belt besides shoulder belt] had pressed in so far as to damage my bladder they were thinking. But come to find out I had a bladder infection. I had no symptoms before hand. Then I started having them about every month, and was always on antibiotics. I got really tired of it, so I started drinking a lot of water every day, and was able to flush my bladder out, and I haven't had another infection since and that was about 10 years ago. BUT........the down side was I was up peeing a dozen times a day. Never during the night as I did most of my "flushing" during the day. lol... Hope you get better real soon! :-) Hugs from Jackie in Oregon Donna... Guest guest
LOL.. well I've definitely been relaxed the past couple of days.. slept a good part of yesterday (between the frequent trips to the potty) sleeping.. and even without a ton of trips last night.. and doing very little today.. I could take a nap again right now... But I am trying to catch up.. Hugs |)onna actually will do you a lot of good - then when your body is relaxed the pills have a really good chance to get you better God, grant me the strength of eagles wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights, and the wisdom to rely on his spirit to carry me there. Thanks nne, I'm glad that I went too... even if it means more pills.. at least for two weeks.. At least now I know what's going on.. and the Cipro should be working within 24 to 48 hours.. or so WebMD and such places say.. I am feeling better, legs will hold me, and allow me to pivot and take a few steps, so that's better.. I'm just really tired right now.. Will probably sleep off and on all day.. Guest guest
Hi Jackie, I sure hope these don't become the norm.. I don't want to be on anti-biotics for an extended period of time (though it might help until I get my upper teeth removed.. loads of cavities and well.. my fault.. decided about 8 years ago, I wasn't doing anything with my teeth since I couldn't get a dentist to follow through on their word to replace amalgam fillings with composite.. teeth can cause a flare too).. But I worry about UTI's getting started and then becoming a pretty much constant presence in my life.. It's not good when we get them.. laid in a case of bottled water for me.. and a few bottles of Cranberry juice.. If I had even suspected that I had something going on, I'd have been drinking Cranberry juice.. I mean anytime before when I felt even the slight achy feeling in the lower back, hip area.. I'd start the Cranberry thing.. it would go away quite quickly.. I feel guilty drinking my cup of coffee in the morning... since that's on the papers to avoid caffeine (which gets confusing.. prescribe the pills with caffeine in them for the ocular migraines.. but I'm not supposed to ingest caffeine with the infection?).. But I WILL drink more water, with the bottled stuff in the fridge.. Our water company is just a riot.. handing out the sports bottle cause it's national drink water week or something like that.. but their water is NOT safe for elderly, babies or immuno-compromised people to drink.. and their quarterly report states exactly that.. Well if the water isn't safe for these types of people.. it's not really safe for anyone.. and heaven forbid their water sits in the kitchen sink, or the bathroom toilet for even a short length of time.. cause there's going to be a grayish to black ring around the top of the water.. sorry I'm no drinking that stuff.. (in coffee or something boiled it doesn't worry me, but right out of the faucet.. nope.. can't put the purifier on the faucet because we put a new fangled.. pull me out of socket and spray me anywhere in the kitchen type faucet on the kitchen sink.. so me no drinky that! LOL).. I just need to remember that when asks me if I want something to drink from the store.. to quit saying.. yeah.. Sprite, or Ginger Ale or Orange.. Need to stay.. Yea.. water or Cranberry Juice.. Speaking of which, he had better have remembered to pick up the yogurt yesterday.. otherwise, I'm going to go from bladder to yeast in the infection department. LOL... Well, here I go.. Blackberry Harvest Yogurt and bottled water to wash it on down. Here's to no more UTI's and no Yeasties either.. LOL HUGS |)onna Hi Donna,....my very first UTI was after a car accident and they found blood in my urine and thought it was from the seat belt that held me tightly in my seat [lap belt besides shoulder belt] had pressed in so far as to damage my bladder they were thinking. Guest guest
Definitely have Cranberry Juice in the fridge now.. and I'm betting there will always be a bottle in there now.. doesn't like sitting around waiting.. and we all know that an ER visit requires the sitting around waiting.. only I get the bed!! LOL HUGS |)onna cranberry juice will keep you flushed out - great for bladder infections they have it in capsules or tablets now God, grant me the strength of eagles wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights, and the wisdom to rely on his spirit to carry me there.
