Guest guest Posted May 30, 2008 Report Share Posted May 30, 2008 Dave Bulla 1953-2008 Dave Bulla, 55, of Amarillo died Monday, May 26, 2008. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Ted With officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Weatherford by -LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Dave Bulla was born Jan. 21, 1953, in Oklahoma City to Shelby and Betty Chapel Bulla. Dave graduated from Talihina High School in Talihina, Okla. He attended West Texas State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in music as well as a bachelor's degree in horticulture. Dave also received his associate in paramedicine from Amarillo College. In 1977, Dave married Ann Lowry in Glorieta, N.M. He had lived in Amarillo since 1972. Dave became a Christian at the age of 6, and he loved and trusted the Lord his whole life. He served the community and Panhandle region for more than 20 years as a paramedic and saved many lives during that time. Dave then taught paramedicine at Amarillo College for almost a decade. Dave was awarded Educator of the Year by the Panhandle Emergency Medical Services System and was also recognized as an Outstanding Young Man of America in recognition for his outstanding professional achievement, superior leadership ability and exceptional service to the community. He also was recognized as an Outstanding Faculty Member. He authored various curriculum and policies for all Panhandle EMS services. Dave was a lifetime member of the Medical Reserve Corps. In his retirement, he always kept in close contact with his family and friends. He was well-known for his giving spirit. Dave had many gifts in life which included music, fishing, computers and technology. He was a great humorist and was very accomplished playing the guitar. Dave instilled his love of music and the arts in his daughter. He enjoyed watching the weather and was known for saying, " Good grief, the radar is lit up like a candle! " Dave found joy in serving the people of the Panhandle and sharing all of his knowledge. Dave generously and wholeheartedly loved his family, and he was so proud of the love of his life, his daughter, . He was preceded in death by his mother and his father-in-law, Bill Lowry. Survivors include his father, Shelby Bulla and wife Edie of lin; a daughter, and husband Matt of Amarillo; a close friend, Ann Bulla of Amarillo; three sisters, Lobb and husband Chuck of Irving, Becky Bulla Folger of Keller and Debbie Folger of Sidney, Mont.; four nieces, Chapel Sara Folger of Keller, Ruthie and husband Shane of Irving and China Lowry and Kari With, both of Rio Rancho, N.M.; four nephews, Lobb of Irving, Bulla Folger of Keller, Graeme Lowry of California and Levi With and wife of Denver; a brother-in-law, Lowry and wife Betty of Portales, N.M.; two sisters-in-law, Margaret With and husband the Rev. Ted and Sue Sehr, all of Rio Rancho; and his mother-in-law, Min Lowry of Rio Rancho. The family suggests memorials be to EMT Program, Amarillo Area Center for Advanced Learning (AACAL), in care of Amarillo Independent School District, 7200 W. Interstate 40, Amarillo, TX 79106-2598.
