Guest guest
Hi everyone,.....I know we've talked about this before, but I don't remember if anyone has experienced exactly what I have been noticing lately when I feel so cold. We were watching TV tonight and as usual my legs get really cold [also my hands], so I cover my legs from the knee down to my ankles. I have wool socks on with fleece slippers so my feet usually stay warm, and I can feel them being warm. Well I kept asking Steve [my hubby] why it was so cold in here as my legs felt like they were freezing. Of course he said it wasn't cold, and it was probably just me. I then had him come over and feel my legs to prove to him they were freezing, and he felt them BUT.......he said honey they are very warm to the touch!!! I said how could that be when they feel so cold to me? I have noticed this in other parts of my body now that I think about it, but its just so weird to have such a distortion of a sensory thing. Well as usual I looked up MS and cold body temps, and read quite a bit about cold hands and feet being very typical, but then I came across the below that explained what may be what I've been experiencing, and was wondering if anyone else does too? I just took a snippet of what someone else said in regards to this symptom. cold hands feet, etc. were "classic" for MS. Apparently, this is caused by a problem with communication to the parasympathetic nervous system and thence to the blood vessels in the hands , feet, etc. It's probably caused by a lesion in the spine, but could also be... (and here he rattled off a couple parts of the brain, which I have not retained. I think one was the hypothalamus?) So do any of you relate to this. I even get this in bed all covered warmly with blankets and quilts and I am still cold in parts of my body. My hands and feet go thru cycles too, but I can feel them when they are cold. Guest guest
has had cold feet (and I think maybe hands too?) during or right before a relapse. But then the feet have actually been cold to the touch too. Then again, one of her relapses consisted of sensing touch/pressure as heat on one side of her lower body. I.e. if she sat down, one half of her would feel the chair just as usual, but the other half sensed heat instead... MS can really mess up sensations in all kinds of ways.love/Reb>> Hi everyone,.....I know we've talked about this before, but I don't remember if anyone has experienced exactly what I have been noticing lately when I feel so cold. > We were watching TV tonight and as usual my legs get really cold [also my hands], so I cover my legs from the knee down to my ankles. Guest guest
Yep. Me too! Several days ago I got cold and started shaking and trembling. My granddaughter checked the temp gauge and it was 64 outside. I felt like it was 10! SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
The other night the house had cooled to about 61*. I had the ceiling fan on low, I started with a regular sheet topped by a flannel sheet, topped with a down comforter. After a bit, the comforter got tossed. After a bit more, the sheets got tossed. After a few more hours, they were all put back on. *sigh* it's probably a good thing I sleep alone, I'd drive someone nutty trying to keep up with my temperature changes! I usually sleep in the buff, that night I had on a long satiny nightie. That was the first night Rob was gone and I wanted to have something on in case he came back and tried something not-so-funny. I also made sure to lock all the doors and windows and had Robbin sleep with his cell in his pocket. ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php -- Body Temp Hi everyone,.....I know we've talked about this before, but I don't remember if anyone has experienced exactly what I have been noticing lately when I feel so cold. Guest guest
Happy Turkey Day Jackie! I understand, and DO have the very same thing.. We go through the "Is it cold in here, I'm cold" thing ALL the time. I'll tell him to "feel" my freezing legs, hands or feet.. only to be told.. that they feel warm to him.. they still feel cold to me, and even to my touch And yup, I can be covered with a quilt or comforter and still be cold!.. Funny thing about that though.. sometime during the night.. I will finally "get warm".. and even stranger is that some mornings I will wake up and think I'm in a new body.. because the pins and needles numb sensations just aren't there.. I wonder if my hands and feet have been replaced by aliens or something while I slept.. LOL.. Of course as the day progresses.. I get my old hands & feet back though.. This morning, in fact.. the most noticeable numb part of me is the pinkie of my right hand.. (but the left hand is usually the worst, with only the thumb having nearly full sensation.. my right I get the thumb & index finger and partial middle finger).. but as the day progresses.. I'm pretty sure, though, that I've saw lesions in the hippopotamus section of my brain on the very first MRI I had.. it was a tiny one compared to the other more noticeable lesions though. And I think I read somewhere, once as well, that sometimes the lesions in that area, are "silent" as well.. I guess meaning that they don't even show up on an enhanced MRI.. but are still there, slowly causing damage.. But hey.. you aren't alone... I'm sitting in the chilly boat right beside you... the only difference is.. that I could have those blackish/grayish (with the red toes & heels) men's hunting sock on my feet.. (haven't tried the slippers, cause I can't keep them on my feet let alone walk in them) and my feet will still feel cold.. I either have to wrap them in a heated towel, or have played Mr. Myagi (from the original Karate Kid when he fixes 's knee or shoulder or something) and slap his hands together, the rub them together, before he puts them on my feet.. or I massage the heck out of them myself when he's not around.. and only then can I restore some warmth to the little piggies.. and sometimes that's only a temporary fix..
