Hi Val,

I live alone with my two dogs :) and I understand the feelings of anxiety

that you can face from time to time especially if not feeling well. At times

like that it is comforting to hear the sounds of another person in the house.

Do you have neighbors nearby? It is good to have a relationship with your

neighbors and know they are there, and a good phone network of friends you can

call if feeling anxious. Having this group is great, too; it seems someone is

always up and around any time of the day and night. We all need support and it

is there if we reach out.

Best

Lil

I am new to this group. I have heart failure and afib. These two problems

in my case seem to be hand in hand and have both developed together. I also

have other health problems. I expect there are other people in the group who

live alone, or at any rate become anxious and depressed about their condition,

as I am afraid I do

Hi Val, My father lived alone for many years, until he was 93 and moved to a

retirement village. A couple of things helped him: a large, sweet golden

retreiver named Duke and a emergency call button which he wore around his neck.

He could summon help just by pushing the button.

A lot is being done with AF, including new medication treatment as well as

some potentially curative procedures and surgeries. It seems that a lot is

happening with heart failure lately incuding some procedures and use of meds

such as Viagra, which seem to be helpful in some cases. I think you will also

find the information and support offerd by this group to be very helpful. Best

HI lil. Thank you for getting back tp me. Your two dogs must be good company.

I dont like to mention my medical problems too much to friends and neighbours as

I feel there is a limit to what you can say to people who do not have serious

health problems, but as you say, it is good to have a group to turn to. Best

Thanks . It is good to know that prgress is being made in treating these

things. Anything that helps is very welcome including Viagra! I never thought

I would be taking that! Best wishes Val

Hi Val,

I agree about not sharing a lot of my medical information. No one really

wants to hear it anyway. ;) I am lucky to have my ex husband nearby who knows

I

am on anticoagulants and I wear a bracelet as well. I just think having some

people in the neighborhood you talk to, and whose phone numbers are up on

the fridge, is helpful in case of emergency, severe anxiety etc. Joining groups

in the community, staying socially active, is also helpful when you live

alone. Do you have any pets? I find my dogs to be comfort beyond measure.

Animals

are so good for the heart (and soul.) Can't imagine my life without dogs in

it (can you tell I am a dog person?) :)
