Guest guest
why is he recommending to put him back on gluten and casein? Because he didn't see results or because he thinks his tummy is healed enough where he would be able to digest it? I too was with my son for 3 years on the diet and now he eats everything. In those three years he also took digestive enzymes (the 2nd year) and when we started to intro gluten and casein , he would only take it with enzymes. Maybe you can give the enzymes a go....don't know how his body would react when ingesting these after such a long time . We saw Dr. Goldberg yesterday for the first time. My son has been GF/CF for three years and he is recommending to put him back on gluten as long as it is not whole grain. This is so difficult for me. Processed grains! So "fish out of water" for me. Have any of you done this? What should I expect to see? Any reactions? I almost feel like I would be giving poison to him to give him plain Wonder bread. This will be a real adjustment for us. It is hard to be stricly biomedical for three years and then go medical. But in our case, biomedical did not bring the results we were looking for. So I will give it a try but would like some information from those who have already done this. Gratefully, Kerri
Guest guest
Hi, I am just now considering digestive enzymes, but there are so many on the market. Would you mind to share what brands you liked and dosages? Thanks! Kari > > why is he recommending to put him back on gluten and casein? Guest guest
I really liked Trienza. (i tried Digest Gold but that made him bloated and hurt his tummy) When we first started he was just past three and couldn't swallow pills , so I used the chewable ones. When he was able to swallow pills , we moved on to the regular capsules. I gave him 2 before each meal (except for breakfast) and 1 before each snack. Even if he was eating gluten and casein free, I gave these to him over a course of two years or a little longer. Last August he started eating regular foods and no longer requires the enzymes to digest. Hi, I am just now considering digestive enzymes, but there are so many on the market. Guest guest
white bread doesnt have the hard to digest whole grain...however it is in my opinion not healthy for the body over the long period of time becuase i think all processed food turns to muciod plaque in gut....look at the belly of middleage people who eat processed foods.... Guest guest
I have done this for my child. We were GFCF /soy free and even tried Specific carbohydrate. Dr. Goldbergs protocol allows for a few slices of white bread per day, but limits all other whole grains... and even advises to use white rice very sparingly. My son did quite well with this shift. It still does not allow dairy, nuts, soy (for us), cherries/berries/ tropical fruit, and low sugar. I try to balance his diet like the zone diet... more lean meats/veg... less grains, fruits and try to limit sugars. I am also on Dr. Goldberg's protocol (fibromayalgia/chronic fatigue) I can tell when I react to food, (I immediately get headaches and muscle pain)... I responded just fine with some white bread... if I over did it I would react, and yes many whole grains even though they were gluten free caused a reaction for me, as did nuts, soy, dairy and chocolate. It really helped that I was able to confirm that the diet worked for myself. I recomend if you have chronic pain/ headaches, exhaustion, adult acne, anxiety/depression, Irritable bowel... that you try an elimination diet for a few days (veg, meat, fruit) and as you add back in foods... pay close attention to dairy, whole grains, nuts, soy, berries/cherries, tropical fruits, corn, chocolate... or anything you think you might be reacting to. This was life changing for me.
