Guest guest
Thanks for wonderful and detailed info on vitamin A. I have a little question. Pardon my ignorance, but is olive leaf extract the sameas olive oil? Can olive oil be a substitute for OLE?A second daring curiosity: There is a patient of depression. His illness started after the measles onset. He is in early twenties. Will high vitamin A protocol and olive oilhelp?Thanks.Ratan.-----------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@...- Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education; Life Member, Nutrition Soc. of India; Member ISOM- Author of "Nutrition & Supplements in Major Mental Illnesses";- M.A. (Psychol), Postgraduate Diploma in Medical & Social Psychology, Ph.D.;- Certified Behavior Therapist (from late Prof. J. Guest guest
Ratan, I believe olive oil is derived from the fruit of the plant (the actual olive, itself) and olive leaf extract is pressed from the leaves. I certainly don't think it would hurt the patient to go ahead and try the Vitamin A. -Tammy Sent from my Kindle Fire
Guest guest
Ratan, While I am not an expert, over the years I have read some really good articles. It is my understanding that the primary properties of the body are Olive oil is more in the good fat catagory in regards to it's primary benefits w/the body. I don't have time now, but when I get a chance I will pull up a great article I found a couple of years ago on the different fats & what they do in the body. In the meantime, here another great link on info on good fats: http://www.barleans.com/faqs.asp from this Barleans site, go to the www.omegascience.org link...you'll have to sign in from their...the info on Essential Fatty Acids is Great!! Olive Leaf Extract is more known for it's antioxidant & immune support Here's Barlene's into on that: http://www.barleans.com/olive-leaf.asp So I'd say if you are going after increasing good fats I'd lean to the olive oil. If you're going after antiviral/antioxidant properties, I'd lean to the olive leaf extract (OLE). A reaction to the measles to me as a non-doc but researched mom would warrant looking at antivirals & good fats. In the natural antivirals there is also others like coconut oils. Vit A is also a good alternative, though personally my son got agressive on the Vit A, he did much better on the coconut oils & OLE. We actually ended up doing well on a combo of OLE, Lysine & Astragulus Root...we did this combo in the product SuperImmune+ by Quantum (here's the one we got): http://www.supersup.com/quantum-super-immune-power-formula-90-vegetarian-capsule\ s-046985001120 We've also use garlic capsules as a good antiviral & chelator. These are the budget versions....I'm sure there are many others that have cleaner versions....it's been a while since we've used these items. Immusist is currently & very effectively taking the place of many of the things we used in the past. HTH's, Rita > > > Thanks for wonderful and detailed info on vitamin A. I have a little question. Guest guest
Thanks Rita. But my question is what is the difference between olive leaf extract and olive oil? What you are telling is the difference betweenthem in terms of use or targets e.g., anti-viral or good fat.Let me be more simple. I mean when you take the "extract" out of olive leaves then is it not the "cold pressed" process? And is the extract then not the cold pressed olive oil? Or perhaps the oil comes from the olive seeds but the simple extract comes from the squeezing of leaves?Regarding the anti-virals, you are right about OLE, coconut oil, garlic. Let me add to this the curcumin and the most potent that isthe Lugol's iodine.Regards.--------------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@...- Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education; Life Member, Nutrition Soc. of India; Member ISOM- Author of "Nutrition & Supplements in Major Mental Illnesses";- M.A. (Psychol), Postgraduate Diploma in Medical & Social Psychology, Ph.D.;- Certified Behavior Therapist (from late Prof. J. Guest guest
Thanks Tammy. I think you are right. Guest guest
Ratan, I don't know. Its probably a chemical found in the leaf that is not present in the fruit. (Or vice-versa). -tammy Sent from my Kindle Fire
Guest guest
Ratan, I'm sorry I misunderstood your ?, as a mom I think of items in terms of what I am trying to affect in the body vs the clinical symptoms that are being displayed (see post I just did displaying the detective work I think through as I'm piecing treatments together w/the clinical signs in this never ending puzzle to help my son). As a mom I've had the tremendous blessing of having several great docs in the area that I've had the luxury of asking LOTS of ?'s. I've so appreciated their mentoring. One of those docs in particular would have been able to answer this ? for you in that he had a Masters in Herbs, a PhD in Nutrition, also a MD, Acupuncturist & ended his US studies with a PhD in Lasers. He is the 1 that originally introduced us to the LDM-100. Unfortunately, I no longer have him to bring these high level ?'s to as he has returned to Asia (last I heard he was touring training other docs & heading up a large clinic). I'll always value the 2 years we worked with him. He taught us many things in working with the level of toxicity we deal with in our ASD children. Some of the last things he concentrated on was the lasers & the Immusist (food grade surfactants w/specific beneficial properties...these oxygenate, hydrate & reduce the surface tension of the cells which helps the body absorb the nutrients + support the organs). Just before he left for Asia he flew here to meet w/high level people about the Immusist because of the amazing properties, including anti-viral. To your list I would also add the LDM-100 & the Immusist. If you have not looked further into these 2 I would highly recommend it. Again, I could not feel more blessed to have mentored under someone of his educational & personal stature. I learned about cold-pressed oils early in my biomed journey. As a mom, I have relied more on my high level docs to direct me, so I have not felt the need to dig deeper into the extract process. To look at this further with your ? I did what a researching mom does...googled " olive leaf extracting " . While I still don't think it totally answers your ?, I thought this link had good info (if only for others reading this): http://www.ageless.co.za/herb-olive-leaf.htm#Parts used Other than that, I'm sorry I do not have the time to further devote to answering your ?. I wanted to thank you so much for being an active part of this group. Someone of your stature is a true blessing to learn from. Blessings to you, Rita > > > > > > > > > Thanks for wonderful and detailed info on vitamin A. I have a little question. Pardon my ignorance, but is olive leaf extract the same > > > as olive oil? Guest guest
Thanks Rita.I live in India. So here we don't have "Immunist" and the other that you mention. But I have found one company that manufactures olive leaf extract. -----------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@...- Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education; Life Member, Nutrition Soc. of India; Member ISOM- Author of "Nutrition & Supplements in Major Mental Illnesses";- M.A. (Psychol), Postgraduate Diploma in Medical & Social Psychology, Ph.D.;- Certified Behavior Therapist (from late Prof. J.
