If anyone is going to try to get disability be sure to contact your congressman.

Our daughter in law was recently diagnosed with Huntington's disease. There is

no cure and she is only going to get worse. Eventually she will have to be

placed in a home. She filed in July and found out this afternoon she is going to

get it starting Jan. and their daughter will get a check also.

Our son was in contact with their congressman and he pushed it through so they

would hear back and not have to wait months/years to hear if she was granted the

disability. I strongly urge anyone going to apply to contact their

representative.

Hugs

I strongly agree!!! As soon as I filed I involved my congressman and only waited the standard 5 months and was approved! The secretary at my congressman's office called on a regular basis to check on my application. Guess they got tired of my phone calls and hers! LOL Getting him involved was the best move I made. I hear of people waiting over a year and having to file appeals after being denied. I never had to go through that!

that is why mine went through - my congressman was a doc - it wasn't easy - that twit who was disgusting - was a real pain - I went down and broke down in tears - then the twit lied to the assistant - wanted me to make a 8 am appointment in Wichita Falls = an hours drive if I could navigate - he told her no problem and then called me the day before demanding I make the appointment - so another phone call in tears

it went to Dallas for review and the Congressman made sure they knew he was interested in a level playing field

I got the disability - DHS is a pain in the tookus - but it worked God, grant me the strength of eagles wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights, and the wisdom to rely on his spirit to carry me there.

Excellent advice, nne. I'm so glad to hear she is getting her disability so quickly! Prayers for her daughter-in-law and son. That money is certainly going to help right now.
