Hello All,

Well, I am doing better and better thanks to the help and support I received on

this board. I spent most of the Autumn season a couple of years ago on this

board daily, dealing with and overcoming issues from childhood. It is here that

I finally found out what had happened in our family and that others can

understand. Maybe not so much out in " real life, " but there are many of us in

existence on the planet. I run into them every once in a while in daily life as

well, much more than I used to now that I can actually function in society.

Just wanted to check in and let you know the warm place you hold in my heart -

keep up the healing and helping. You are amazing!

I am finally able to work and have reasonable LC relationships with family.

I've even gotten past most of the grief and can enjoy them for the good parts

usually. My husband no longer has to conduct hours-long counseling sessions

after every phone call. Of course, there aren't many phone calls - so that

helps. ;-)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. I wish you all continued peace

and deep, lasting joy.

May we all heal,

Coal Miner's Daughter

That's great to hear that you've found a way to manage (relatively) benign

contact with your family of origin without letting them wreck your psyche, i.e.

needing " damage control " after a visit or phone call. I too find it gratifying

to find fellow KOs out there in the real world to relate to and share with; not

that being a KO is a blessing, but its good to have others to share with, to

give and receive mutual emotional support to, in real life. A Merry Christmas

and Happy New Year full of peace and joy to you, too, and as you say, may we all

heal.

CMD,

I remember you too, and I am so pleased at how well you are doing. I had to come

back here for some additional support during the hospitalization and loss of my

husband last month to cancer and nada making it " all about her " naturally. My

defenses were down and nada jumped at the opportunity. Hope to be back to find

my new normal soon so I can find my balance again.
