Guest guest
Sooo, just to make sure everybody is caught up, I am applying to go to grad school next year. And it has been a hell of a lot of work. Anyway, I have a friend who has PhD in psychology and he does evaluations for the justice system, sees juvenille offenders and works with a huge medical center. I wanna do what he is doing. He called me yesterday and advised me not to go the marriage and family therapy route, if I want to get a PhD in clinical or counseling psychology. So now I'm scared. i think his advice is great, its perfect, but I am only applying to one counseling psychology program. The deadline for all the others has passed. oh crap oh crap oh crap oh crap

Guest guest
Is it possible to take the counseling course and still work towards the other? Either way don't be scared, you're putting yourself out on a limb so you can help others-it will work out sandra ________________________________ To: wtoadultchildren1 <WTOAdultChildren1 > Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2011 11:19 AM Subject: freaking out a little  Sooo, just to make sure everybody is caught up, I am applying to go to grad school next year. Guest guest
Hi Girlscout: The Grad School application is brutal but don't worry that the deadlines have passed. I was in a similar siutation for the same program and I got through it. If you don't get in this year - there is always another round of intakes. I had to apply to my program 3 times before I got in and the year I got in - all 3 of the schools I applied to accepted me into their Counselling Psych program. I figure the time had to be right for it to happen and now I am almost finisheded my Masters. I went the School Counselling route - but actually want to end up in Community based counselling working with families. There is plenty of time for you to focus and specialize. I guess what I am trying to say - is- IT IS OK. Things work out the way they should. If your intent is to become a counsellor then you will find a way. I did and many times I was so freaked out as well. Koko > > Sooo, just to make sure everybody is caught up, I am applying to go to grad > school next year. And it has been a hell of a lot of work. Guest guest
Hi Girlscout, I second Koko's advice. You'll find a way to get there. I guess we will see. things usually come together the way they are meant to, right? XOXO > Hi Girlscout, > I second Koko's advice. You'll find a way to get there. Guest guest
My daughter's major is in psychology, too, and decided to pursue Occupational Therapy in grad school. I think this is a better fit for her than being a counselor. And in here in Michigan, a degree in sociology is actually more useful if you are going into family counseling. Go where your heart leads you. > > Sooo, just to make sure everybody is caught up, I am applying to go to grad > school next year. And it has been a hell of a lot of work.
