Activated charcoal as detox?

Hi all,I am just curious if anyone is using activated charcoal for GI detox. I am currently using Naporella (Japanese sea algae) for the purpose but would like to try activated charcoal. Any pointers where I can get it for a reasonable price. Google didn't lead to any trustworthy sites (a couple of products on Amazon but rather expensive for charcoal !!)

It's available at most health food stores pretty inexpensively.  I think the last time I bought a bottle, I paid something like $7.  It's pretty widely available, I think...
