Guest guest
SCIA NEED YOUR VOTE..... Welcome to Autism Speaks My Research Idea! Thank you for your interest in the Autism Speaks " My Research Idea " campaign and for sharing our mission of improving the lives of all those affected by autism. Every three years, Autism Speaks science leadership tackles a major review of research priorities and goals for the years ahead. As part of this process, we consult extensively with our scientific advisory boards and committees, which include leading experts, parents and grandparents of children with autism and adults on the spectrum. We have designed this space to invite your input on the types of research you would like to see in the years ahead. Perhaps you have a specific idea for a study that could deliver benefits to those affected by autism and their families. Perhaps you'd like to weigh in on some of the ideas already posted here. This is your forum. We know our strategic plan for science will benefit from your input. You may find it helpful to begin by exploring some of the studies we currently fund and have funded in the past. You can do so by following this link to the grant search engine on our website. We fund lots of different kinds of studies from basic science to treatments. We even fund studies that look at how to effectively deliver well-validated clinical services to the community. Feel free to submit any research idea you feel is important. Examples of topics that may interest you are: - Causes of autism - Biological basis of autism - Early diagnosis and intervention - Treatments of all kinds (behavioral, medical, alternative, and so on) throughout the lifespan - Adolescent and adult development - Services to promote successful employment Perhaps you feel we have neglected an important part of the autism community or you have an idea how to accelerate scientific discoveries. We do ask that you submit research ideas you would like us to fund. We're not asking advice on what NOT to fund, but for positive ideas for new research projects. Later this year, look for a summary report on the Autism Speaks Blog. As always, the guiding mission of our science program is to improve the lives of all who struggle with autism and to do so by funding research and developing resources that will speed the discovery, development and dissemination of the best therapies, assistive technologies and other supportive programs. Thank you for being part of this mission. http://autismspeaks.ideascale.com/a/dtd/SCIA-Stop-calling-Is-Autism/94485-15895
