Guest guest
One of our barn cats is going to the vet's tomorrow to get neutered. He is a huge yellow kitty that my granddaughter calls "Chub Chub". He is about 4 or 5 years old and he is finally tame enough for the vet to handle. He is the tamest of the barn cats. He was brought into the house this afternoon so we can be sure he has no food or water after midnight. He freaked out really bad when put in a cage, beating his nose against the "bars" until his nose was dripping blood. Now he is in the bathroom, hiding under the counter. My granddaughter is fretting over him and is so worried about him. He will have to stay in the house for 4 days after the surgery so he doesn't injure himself. This is going to be interesting;) SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Another reason I prefer muttlies to kitties.. though I love kitties too.. Just don't want to be trying to give kitties pills.. Putting hairball medicine on their paws is much easier than getting them to take a pill.. I think I'd try pulverizing a kitty pill and mixing it into something they are likely to scarf down.. and THEN think about the taste.. rather than needing disinfectant and bandages.. possibly tetnus shots.. Guest guest
It's not that big a secret, it more of a technique. Open cat's mouth, place pill in back of mouth/top of throat and then shove it back with finger. Then massage under kitties chin. It goes right down with no problems. The key is to ACT QUICKLY:) SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Trick might be in actually getting hold of the cat.. then getting the kitties mouth open.. then after that, pretty much the same technique that I used with the dogs.. get it back in far enough (arm soaked to elbow with Boxers).. and then voila.. pick it up off the floor!.. sometimes I swear that their tongue goes the whole way to their stomach, so they can work it back out.. nothing worse than a wet slimy pill either!.. LOL.. or mercy to mergatroid.. the medicine is in capsule form! HUGS |)onna It's not that big a secret, it more of a technique. You have seen this: How to Give a Cat a Pill haven't you? If you haven't I'm sure you will see at least a bit of humor in it.. And if you haven't, at least you'll know to take down any fancy lace curtains you'd like to keep.. LOL HUGS |)onna One of our barn cats is going to the vet's tomorrow to get neutered. This is going to be interesting;) Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
I didn't have any problems with my boxer, I was able to train her to take them. When I'd signal, she's sit and open her mouth and I just dropped the pill into the resultant black hole. No problem. But then Chata was exceptional even for a Boxer (and they ARE an exceptional breed!) She used to think of herself as a lap dog lol...she would hoist her front onto my lap, still standing on her hind legs, and snooze that way. Never will forget her...she was the best dog I've ever had (though my collie would dispute that) ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php -- Re: kitty going to vet tomorrowOh, I am sooooooo very very sure that it's going to be quite quite interesting in the house for the next few days..
