Guest guest
If anyone here knows anything about cortisol ranges I would really appreciate your help. I had the ACTH stimulation test done and a nurse called the very next day and said my results were normal. I asked for them to send me a copy of the results and here is what I recieved Test Name Result AB REF/Range Units COLLECTED 12/12/06 9:35 RECEIVED 12/12/06 9:35 Cortisol, a.m 15.3 6.5 - 26.0 mcg/dL ACTH 13.3 9.0 - 46.0 pg/mL COLLECTED 12/12/06 9:45 RECEIVED 12/12/06 10:00 Cortisol, a.m. 28.7 H 6.5 - 26.0 mcg/dL My first question is I was to be given the ACTH and then tested 30 minutes later and then another 30 minutes later. The first collection was at 9:35 and the second was at 9:45?????? My second question is the second collection shows a result of 28.7 with an H in the AB colum which I assume stands for High since it is higher than the normal range. So why was I told it was normal? Let me also say the nurse who did this test didn't have a clue what she was doing and was interupted several times by personal phone calls that were obviously upsetting. My vein was barely giving any blood and she really had to manipulate the needle to get blood and durring the last collection she was so frustrated she just said 'OH thats good enough " ! I'm worried it wasn't good enough. Is this really a normal test result? If so then what is with the H? in Ohio
Guest guest
i think the best result of cortisol levels are from salvia test not blood. it test your cortisol levels over 12 hours, check out canary club.org also read stopthethyroidmaddness section on that subject > > If anyone here knows anything about cortisol ranges I would really > appreciate your help. Guest guest
Jenifer, I am horrified by your experience at the lab/doctor taking your blood – first thing I would do is call to get it redone at no charge! That said, I am not sure why you were told it’s normal when the cortisol ranges lower as the day goes on. I had mine done saliva as well but with the method you are doing, it sounds like they are looking/testing for Cushings. What are your symptoms that led to this test? Guest guest
I went to the endocrynologyst for testing because I have been having terrible pain from endometriosis and cysts on my ovaries along with other symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, depression, terrible memory,no sex drive, and the list goes on and on. I wanted to know if the symptoms were a result of the endometriosis or if the endometriosis was a symptom of some imbalance in my body. I asked for very spacific tests that included free T3 & T4 and all my female hormones, an antibodies test because it is commom in women with endometriosis and also an adrenal test mainly because of the fatigue. About a year ago my prolactin level was very high, (49) but has since leveled out. So after the tests, I asked for a copy of the results and it turned out they didn't even do the female hormones test and they didn't do the adrenals either! So I had to go back and do those tests. Them not testing what they said they were going to was the first red flag. The woman who did the adrenal test was at a hospital, not at their office so I can't blame them for that, but still another red flag! Now I get these results that don't seem to add up and I am very irritated because it being January I'm required to meet my deductible all over again which has more than doubled since last year and I really can't afford to have these tests done all over again. But just reading the results of the first one seems to indicate that the results are NOT normal. I'm waiting for a nurse or doctor to call me back today. I called 2 hours ago and I'm still waiting. I got this doctor's name from the topendodocs website and I will be sure to go back there and leave a negative feedback because I didn't have any positive experience with him or his office at all. I'm sure they'll feed me a bunch of garbage when they call me so I want a second oppinion about these results. if the normal range is 6.5 - 26.0 and I tested at 28.7, that is higher than the normal range. It is only slightly higher but what does that mean? Why is there a normal range if they aren't going to bother using it? in Ohio > > > > > > > > > > > If anyone here knows anything about cortisol ranges I would really > > appreciate your help.
