I have been seeing Dr. D, a family practice doctor, for more that 8 years. I have always liked him because he's funny and friendly and it's always like visiting with an old friend. But I was not happy with him when I saw him last week. Our small community doesn't have enough doctors and there is no neurologist (the last one was arrested;). So I don't have unlimited options. I do feel I need to do something though. Let me tell you what happened and you tell me what I should do.... new doc or give him another chance?I told his nurse my problems were a rapid heart beat and falling and losing my balance. So doc comes in and starts talking about me having an MS flare up. He didn't say anything about the heart beat thing. So I told him

about the episode I had in May where I had rapid heart beat lasting more than 10 minutes. I tried to count the beats but couldn't keep up. After it went back to normal I was weak and that lasted into the next day. So I told doc about it. He didn't listen to my heart at all. He didn't take my pulse. He didn't ask any questions at all. He did tell me he thinks it was caused because I don't drink enough water. ME not drink enough water?? I have extremely dry mouth and have water with me every minute of the day and during the night too. I reminded doc about the dry mouth and said I am always drinking water. He didn't say anything. Then he said "is there anything else?" I said well what about the rapid heartbeat? Again he said he thinks it was caused by not drinking enough water. He didn't listen to my heart, didn't take my pulse, didn't order blood work.

Nothing. It was later I realized he didn't even order my mammogram that is due. I forgot to say anything about the mammogram because I was stunned over the lack of response from him. What should I do? There's another provider who is actually closer to my home who is a nurse practioner with his own practice. His name is Jack and I have also seen him off and on for years. Jack and his wife are wonderful people. I have bounced between Jack and Dr. D because with my disability pension I have to be seen by an MD. So Dr. D is the one who fills out my forms for my disability pension when they need things filled out. Dr. D is on my insurance (Humana PPO) and Jack isn't. Jack will follow up on things better but has a tendency to refer out more than I like. Jack only charges $35 for an office visit. I called Humana today and found out if I see Jack and he orders tests they will pay

for the tests if they are done at an in-network facility. I am thinking about going back to Jack but also staying with Dr. D in case I need forms filled out. What do you all think?hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
