Guest guest Posted July 1, 2008 Report Share Posted July 1, 2008 Warrant: Man killed pregnant wife before leaving for work Posted: June 30, 2008 04:38 PM CDT Updated: July 1, 2008 12:37 PM CDT Couty (Source: LPSO) Arrest Warrant By Robb Hays COYELL, LA (WAFB) - An arrest warrant issued in the case of 23-year-old Couty alleges he killed his pregnant wife and then left for work. The victim, 24-year-old Christa Baker , was four months pregnant. Investigators say the killing happened Saturday afternoon. Police were called to the home early Sunday morning. Couty initially told detectives he returned home to find his wife dead, investigators said. Detectives say later confessed to killing his wife " while she was attempting to gather clothing from a closet in a spare bedroom at the family residence. " Detectives say they have Couty 's confession on tape. " Couty Lamar shot his wife in the head with a 9mm handgun at the family residence located at 18059 Watts Road, Livingston, La., in Livingston Parish, then left her there and went to work, " the arrest warrant states. Couty is employed by Acadian Ambulance. He is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his wife, as well as first-degree feticide for the death of her unborn child. He is also charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly staging a crime scene at the home to make it appear as though there had been a burglary there.
