A few weeks ago someone on this board introduced me to the videos of Sam Vaknin,

a writer on narcissistic personality disorder, who has many short videos on You

Tube. I find them like candy, and play them all the time, even while I'm doing

other tasks like cleaning or washing dishes. My Nada was borderline not NDP, but

there are so many similarities between the two disorders, that I get a lot out

of what Sam has to say.

Here's the weird thing: the more I listen to Sam, the happier I feel. 15 minutes

with Sam in the morning and I feel like I've taken a " happy pill. " It's the

funniest thing! I guess that even though I've been NC for going on 8 blissful

years, there is a slight " hangover " loss and guilt that sometimes comes over me.

Listening to Sam really drives home how impossible my situation was and that the

boundaries I drew to protect myself were absolutely necesssary. Sam works like

guilt-remover on my mind and listening to his message (combined with healthy

activities) resulted in the happiest holiday season for me ever.

Here is a video from Sam that's a good introduction to his message and has a lot

of crossover info for anyone dealing with a BPD. They are 100% free to all and

when you call-up this video, a whole list of others will come up alongside it to

choose from.

Best,

AFB

I am so very glad they helped! I belong to a group on FB group dealing with BPD

and these videos made the rounds over there. I, too, have found comfort in his

words.

In particular, about 10 years ago I left an impossible job working for a NPD--I

was emotionally frustrated by how 'hooked' into the relationship I had become

and the power I had allowed the jerk. These videos helped me understand my

reaction to the 'failed' relationship and why it reminded me of interactions

with my nada and grand nada.
