Guest guest
It's the noise that gets me!! Oh, not the noise of the fireworks, it's the chattering teeth of our cowardly boxer/lab mix! She becomes 80 pounds of shivering, teeth chattering, hiding under anything mess. We got her what I refer to as 'doggy valium' (herbal) but if it calms her down you can't prove it by me! The worst of it is she gets this idea that she is a five pound lap dog and wants to spend her shivering night in someone's lap. Did I mention she weighs in at EIGHTY POUNDS! LOL Anyway, that was our fourth of July - a day that is repeated on Labor Day, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, New Years' Eve and any holidays the neighbors make up off the top of their pointed little heads. Oh, and on Christmas morning if someone gets a new shotgun. Tomorrow is the fifth, right? Dee

Guest guest
Sympathies! I love the " flashies " but don't like the noise either. We used to have a ginormous shepherd/Malamute cross who was terrified of guns, fireworks, thunder - anything that made a loud noise. She would do her best to squeeze behind the toilet and on one occasion managed to get stuck back there (hung her collar on something). The current Pack don't care for fireworks, but the only ones they really abject to are those screaming ones. Your list of " loud holidays " reminds me of when we lived in a mostly Mexican neighborhood in San Bernardino - all those days plus Cinco de Mayo plus people's Saint's Days got the loud celebrations! in WY Practical Blackwork Designs " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return...
