Guest guest
H.T. Up here in Wisconsin, I am using the Firestone Transforce AT. It has been very reliable and has stopped the blowouts since we started using them. Hopefully that will help. Guest guest
We are using Michelin LTX MS. We went to this tire following the Firestone problem that Ford had. The Firestone OEM tire was not part of the recall, but we had several failures that caused substantial damage to the wheel wells. The Michelin tire has performed well and we have had only one failure that was a result of being run flat. The Bridgestone dealer in town claims his tire will perform as well, but we will probably stay with Michelin for the time. , Director Seminole EMS TIRES -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 has anyone found a reliable brand of tire for amublance use??? we have had blowouts on about every brand...any one have a suggestion for a reliable tire? Guest guest
We are located halfway between Houston and San and Austin is 100 miles to the north and we make lots of transfers to these locations. I was a firm believer in Goodyear until it got to the point that I could not keep a Goodyear tire on long enough to do a tire rotation. I switched to Mitchelin XPS rib I have not had near the problems. Guest guest
Make sure you're using a properly load rated tire and that you're running them at the proper air pressure. Overloading tires causes separation FAST ( which causes failure) and low pressure causes excessive heat which has the same results. Also, on the tire pressure end, if the 2 duals rub together (are touching) because one is low or overloaded, you WILL have a blow out. burn into the minds of your employees to check the tires EVERY shift! specially in the morning, black tires are kinda hard to see at night. just a few secs to look at them will not hurt. Also, keep an eye on your alignment, suspension and tire wear patterns, bad suspension geometry or alignment can cause premature partial wear on a tire that leads to catastrophic failure. on a personal note, im a big fan of michelin, kumho, pirelli, and BFG(not that you'd use 'em on an ambulance...........mud terrains on a type II 4X4...hmmmmmm) ....................can't tell I work at Discount Tire all through high school, can you? good luck & be safe!
