What is the treatment for PANDAS. Is there any natural antibiotic for this. My sons stuttering starts only after cough starts. 2 weeks back my hub and me both had throat pain and both took antibiotics for it. I noticed that my sons cough also increased and so did his stammering. I'm thinking it could be streps and someone mentioned if I dont treat this its going to become PANDAS. I'm thinking whether I should start augumentin. Yesterday we took him to his pediatrician who checked his throat and chest, and said there was no redness in the throat and chest is clear, so he wouldnt write a script for antibiotics.

Is there any natural medicine to treat this? Any other advice?

Thanks,

Navina

After reading this...I really think we need to find a Doc familiar with PANDAS. We live on the Eastern Coast. Does anyone know of a great DOC we can see to treat PANDAS? Thanks! ANG

Nothing natural that I know of treats PANDAS. The coughing is most likely a tic. Last year I had strep and was treated with antibiotics for 10 days. I got better with the strep throat but was left with a dry cough for 2months. I took another round of antibiotics for one month and the cough went away. I believe my cough was a tic.

Augmentin and azithromycin are good for PANDAS.........amoxicillin is good for current strep throat. Augmentin is very tough on the gut. If it is PANDAS you may need to be on the antibiotic for several weeks or even months.

I do not know if Dr Megson knows about PANDAS or how she treats it. Keep in mind that over 50% of the kids with PANDAS symptoms do NOT have high titers. I can tell you that few doctors treat for PANDAS based on symtpoms alone. Most docs frequire high titers before they will treat. does treat based on symptoms and he will treat aggressively if necessary. also looks to rule out other causes as well that can cause Pandas symptoms.......like various other bacterias, lyme. He is very thorough, nice and knowledgeable. Only bummer about is he does not take insurance but he will code everything so you'll get paid back but at the out of network reate. You need to see him in person once a year but then you can do phone consults for 10 to 15 minutes

.. His hourly rate is $320 but when you do a phone consult he only charges for the minutes used which is usually 5 to 15 minutes.

I am not sure if Dr Woeller treats PANDAS. The DAN doc I was using prior to knew about PANDAS but definetly did not treat it as aggressively as . My son was a complete psycho mess.....very self injurious and miserable. put him on a very high dose of antibiotics and very high dose of steroids. We also had to move on to IVIG with .

You need to see him in person once a year but then you can do phone consults for 10 to 15 minutes . His hourly rate is $320 but when you do a phone consult he only charges for the minutes used which is usually 5 to 15 minutes.

After reading this...I really think we need to find a Doc familiar with PANDAS. We live on the Eastern Coast. Does anyone know of a great DOC we can see to treat PANDAS? Thanks! ANG

Thanks,

Navina

is chewing like crazy for a while now. We went through this before and a couple times it went away with extra Zinc or Parasite protocol. This time I knew the yeasties were back (cause I got lazy with his Lamisil) and after several large dumps AND zinc AND black Walnut & wormwood complex...he's still chewing. He's actually tearing threads in his sleeve cuffs to create holes. And he's doing this head thing where it looks like he's gently shaking his head "no". ADVICE???? HELP!!!! > > > > > > > > > > > > >

PANDASnetwork.org is a good resource. Dr O'Hara also treats Pandas. She is in CT. I use a DAN in Phila. Dr Pat Elliott. Saving Sammy's website may have a list of medical providers. You can even contact Beth through her web site and ask her. If you are on Facebook there is a group called Parents of Kids with Pandas. It is a private group, but can be found doing a search. My daughter's symptoms - sudden onset of symptoms....aggression mostly, bizarre behaviors that were out of character for her, regression, toilet regression (urination), weird tic, episodes that appeared to be psychotic, frequent climbing, destructive, every autistic symptom was exacerbated and so on. It was a horrific experience. If you go on you tube and search for pandas public service announcement, there is a video that list the symptoms. It is very helpful and I often share it with others.By the way.... My daughter's doctor had a few adult patients. I personally know one dad who is getting bicillin injections.

How do we detect pandas? What are the symptoms? ----- Forwarded Message ----- To: "mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex > Sent: Tuesday, 21 February 2012 4:21 PM Subject: Re: CHEWING CHEWING CHEWING!
