Guest guest
First time posting with my new alias. I guess we will see if it actually works. I don't understand why we use aliases. Can anyone fill me in? It feels very dis-empowering to me. I don't have anything to be ashamed of, nada needs an alias not me. anyway... I don't think anyone has posted about this but I find it fascinating. There's a new band out called AwolNation. They have a couple of somewhat popular songs- they are kind of alternative actually. The first time I heard these two particular songs I immediately thought they were about someone with BPD. However, in the song " Sail " he " blames it on his ADD " . I have to wonder if the original lyrics weren't ADD but BPD. I know there are many other occurrences of BPDisms in mainstream media. For awhile there was talk about BPD in movies. I find it interesting it can be found in music as well. I've included links to the songs I'm referring to. < >
Guest guest
I don't think we use aliases because we are ashamed. Some of us need to remain anonymous because we are NC and our parents might stalk us or look for information that might be used against us in court or otherwise. It is a boundary of protection that many of us need. It doesn't mean we're ashamed of our feelings. It is also helpful to remember that your BPD parent is not the only crazy person out there in the world, and to exercise caution about where you share your identity and personally identifying information. Occasionally, boards like this will attract types who like to do things like harassment and stalking, and it's a good idea to be careful. I used to use my " real " email account here because I didn't care whether my mother found me. I thought differently a few years later and decided to set up the alias. I feel a lot better about it now. Sveta
Guest guest
You can be who you want to be on here. I m Doug, and have no reason not to say so. But sometimes BP skulkers have joined in, and some of our folks are NC, LC, or have very troubling relationships with FOO and choose not to let thier identity be openly known. It is your choice entirely, as you feel comfortable. But welcome. Doug > > First time posting with my new alias. I guess we will see if it actually > works. I don't understand why we use aliases. Guest guest
Hi Jules! Enjoyed the song. In my personal experience, at least one NPD is very fond of the label " ADD " because it's a socially acceptable disorder that she can hide behind and blame for her lack of attention and care. I was saddling ADD people with all kinds of unpleasant characteristics,(even making a mental decision to never work with anybody with it again!) until I dug down, did the research and found that the unpleasant characteristics I was assigning were waaay more narcisstic than Attention Deficit. Could this change the interpretation of the song in any way? AFB > I don't think anyone has posted about this but I find it fascinating. > There's a new band out called AwolNation.
