Guest guest
if I swerve or brake hard to avoid bambi then I am the idiot. Driver was a generic term for anyone that drives. Thanks for the info on body armor. Guest guest
Unless you wear it over your head...probably not.? The largest majority of fatalities in the back of the ambulance are due to head injuries... Dudley Body Amor was Re: carrying on the job. Doc brings up something to think about. While medics getting shot is not a very big problem, there are many blunt force injurys. Would wearing a bullet/stab proof vest be a way to help avoid serious injurys from the EKG that flies into your chest when the idiot that is driving slams on the brakes? Yes I know secure all items but when working a serious call we all do stupid things like not secure equipment or ourselves. In fact say all items are secure, in fact you are secure but patient needs something. You release your belt, start to stand up and the idiot driver swerves to miss a cat sending you flying hitting your torso. Would body armor absorb some of this impact and thus limit the amount of internal injurys, broken ribs, ruptured spleens, etc? Would body armor be an appropriate safety precaution to have? With Texas heat would they even be wearable? Just a thought as safety is first rule of EMS even though it seems to be the first rule forgotten.
