Guest guest
You can also use it as a moisturizer so it is still getting absorbed, you just have to watch too much can cause loose stoolsSent from my iPhone I feel ya! Guest guest
So whats the deal? Does the information just say that it works or it also suggests HOW it works?Could you please post links, I am curious..AFAIK, its just saturated fat so I am curious whats the theory behind its use and how its supposed to work.. Thanks,Noel We got allergic. :(CarolineVoice of ...for now. Guest guest
Hi Noel,I really enjoyed the book by Bruce Fife, The Miracle of Coconut Oil. It discusses the main active compound in CO, caprylic acid. It is amazing that there are only two sources of these medium chain fatty acids in our human diet. Human breast milk and coconut oil!As a saturated fat, there are many metabolic benefits, as well. Are you familiar with Sally Fallon and Weston A Price? Another great book is Deep Nutrition: Why Your Genes Need Traditional Foods by Shanahan MD. I think as many do, that autism is multi-factorial. I have severe gut problems myself and my children were never vaxed. My boys are on the milder end of the spectrum and I have seen significant healing from diet and homeopathy. We are now adding in more supplements bc of pyroluria. I brought significant schizophrenic genes from my family. Some really interesting ideas about schizophrenia and autism and evolutionary biology today. Abram Hoffer discusses these in his new book, Niacin: The Real Story. Stunning. Anyway, coconut oil is well worth your research time. http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/JeanOn Feb 22, 2012, at 8:57 AM, Noel Mathur wrote: So whats the deal? Guest guest
Jean, Have you seen the recent Altlantic article detailing research into toxoplasmosis and schizophrenia? VERY interesting. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2012/03/how-your-cat-is-making-you-c\ razy/8873/ We are thinking of adding in Naicin after seeing your post on the Pyrroluria treatments (zinc and B6, following roughly Klinghardt's protocol, have been very big for us). If you have a moment to very briefly encapsulate the idea behind the Hoffer book, I'd love it. I know this is asking a lot, sorry- don't worry if you don't have time. I'll track it down sooner or later. Thanks for this lead. > >>> > >>>> > >>>> Hi > >>>> Have you got any idea on the use of coconut oil to treat autism. Guest guest
We make a frosting with coconut oil, rice syrup, and tapioca starch (Mia used to react to tapioca starch, not so much since parasite treatment). We also use the food-based dyes (made from things like turmeric and beet powder), and have made some truly 'real' looking cupcakes for birthday parties! We also make a snack with coconut oil, organic sunbutter (or tahini, depending on the state of our oxalate issues), and rice syrup. The kids eat this out of a little desert bowl- or you can freeze it and slice into squares for freezer fudge. We also add it into morning shakes made with the oil, sunbutter, and rice syrup, then slowly adding in coconut milk and blending. We add in our glutamine powder and inner eco kefir at the same time. > > > > You can also use it as a moisturizer so it is still getting absorbed, you > > just have to watch too much can cause loose stools > > > > Sent from my iPhone > > > > > > > > > > > > I feel ya! Guest guest
Well, I believe that is related to lauric acid, a different and also excellent component of coconut oil. jean i was just curious if caprylic acid is the same as monalarin, the stuff that is in lauricidin?
