What companies provide malpractice insurance for Medical Directors?

I work for a City service. Our Medical Director has moved away and our

new applicants want the EMS service to pay for the malpractice

insurance.

Thank-you,

Are you a member of the Texas Municipal League (TML)? If so, they can

provide coverage for a physician which serves as an advisor.

Presidio and Marfa's free ride is over I take it. Dr. Eileen Connor

never charged anything for being Medical Director, she never even asked

for insurance coverage. She will be missed. I do hope that the new

medical director will understand just how remote an area Presidio and

Marfa are in and be willing to continue to have agressive protocols as

well as continue to expand them. I also hope that some how Presidio

and Marfa can get same Medical Director so when working mutual aid you

will know what each other is doing or should be doing.

Sorry no help on your question. Hope you the best on the search.

Check with your insurance liability carrier who covers your ambulances, drivers,

equipment, etc. Usually it is just another rider on the existing policy.

The only place we could get it was through VFIS.

Thank you. That is a great suggestion. We already use TML for the

vehicle insurance.

Thoughts: An ED physician can usually get the medmal to extend to EMS

for scene work, but not for admin. TML will not cover any medmal for

the EMS Med Dir.

VFIS is a good choice, but they only cover non-profits (or so they

told me in 2003).

There is a company that just started providing EMS Med Dir coverage

out of NM recently, Bledsoe surely has the name and number. ACEP also

just introduced a policy through a partner. Easy to find on the

members section of their website.
