Just thought I would let everyone know that Plainview Fire/EMS lost a retired

FF/EMT-P in a horrific Motorcycle accident yesterday in North Lubbock. He might

have lived, yet the gas tank was ruptured and there was a terrible fire in which

he was trapped under the motorcycle and died 2 hours later.

Mike Gilbreath spent 23 years with the Fire/EMS in Plainview and retired in

1995. He was the first Paramedic we had and was 63 years old. He was working

with the county as a Bailiff for the County Court. He was very respected in the

community and his goal in life was to serve everyone he could. He was on

vacation and was to take some kids to church camp this week. He served in every

aspect he could.

He was a dino Medic and thought some might have known him.

Funeral services are Friday July 18, 2008 at 10:30 AM. He will be at Kornerstone

funeral home in Plainview. There will be full a Fire Department funeral for him.

You can search for the story on the web.

A great brother is laid to rest.

Thanks

Chief,

At times like this words alone are nothing.

Your loss is great and I'm sorry for your loss.

His EMS family most definitely feels his untimely loss. Please let his family

and friends know that we are thinking of them and will pray for them to find

peace.

To all:

Carol Gilbreath and family ask me to relay to you a big thank you for your

thoughtful wishes. I explained to her all that had sent condolences and she was

almost at a loss for words. All agencies did an outstanding job of displaying

the final tribute to Mike. It was an awesome full Fire/Police/EMS funeral. She

and her family were overwhelmed by everything. Mike really deserved this

tribute.

I am simply relaying her wishes to all that responded.
