Guest guest
Tomorrow evening (tonight if you're reading this on Monday, too bad if you didn't see it 'til Tuesday) is a rather rare occurrence - a total lunar eclipse will coincide with the Winter Solstice. It starts at 23:27 CST, enters totality at 01:40 Tuesday CST and ends at 5:06 Tuesday CST. The last time there was a total eclipse on the Solstice was 1638, and the last time before that was sometime BCE. It doesn't precisely coincide with the exact moment of solstice, which will be at 15:38 PST, but it's close enough for government work. On the downside, it's expected to be cloudy here all day Monday into overnight, so there's a good chance I won't be able to see it. I'll have to look out and check the sky around 23:00 here - it'll start at 23:27 CST.There's a good summary of the events at http://tinyurl.com/2e8o3hpwhich includes a table of eent times for North American viewing.More at http://tinyurl.com/285grxyAn animated sequence of what you should be able to see at: http://tinyurl.com/29ra8gv God, grant me the strength of eagles wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights, and the wisdom to rely on his spirit to carry me there.
