Guest guest
Gotta' love that public utility model. BEB From: texasems-l [mailto:texasems-l ] On Behalf Of Shaw, Kenny Sent: Monday, July 28, 2008 3:34 PM To: texasems-l Subject: RE: Re: Austin EMS/Fire/PD getting blasted again Here's a paragraph from the webpage of the EMS service in Little Rock. It all depends on " where you're at " . SALARY: The starting salary range for a Paramedic is $24,264 to $25,720 depending on experience. $24,264 for a Paramedic with one year experience, with an additional 3% given up to 3 years of experience, for a maximum of 6%. ________________________________ From: texasems-l <mailto:texasems-l%40yahoogroups.com> [mailto:texasems-l <mailto:texasems-l%40yahoogroups.com> ] On Behalf Of rachfoote@... <mailto:rachfoote%40aol.com> Sent: Monday, July 28, 2008 3:25 PM To: texasems-l <mailto:texasems-l%40yahoogroups.com> Subject: Re: Re: Austin EMS/Fire/PD getting blasted again Just got our minimum starting salary up to $46,592.00 for starting paramedics. Add on a 3% cost of living increase on October 1, 2008 and it becomes$47,989.76 by then. Keep plugging and scratching and you never know. Andy Foote Re: Austin EMS/Fire/PD getting blasted again I don't know about how high even the essentials are getting in Austin. I am told they are higher in Austin than they are in the South Plains. here 5 years ago milk was $1.90 a gallon and gas was still around & 1.98 to 2.20 a gallon. now Milk is $4 a gallon and so is gas. Gas prices have gone up, Minium wage has increased and even graceries have gone up in response. If we do not ask for raises to keep up with inflation the rising cost of living then we end up going backwards in oconomic status. And no most people don't think about EMS, FD, PD, or SO until they need 1 of us. then it is always what took you so long. I figure pay is about right annually in my area when to compared to :oh lets say nurses, LVN's start at about $33,000 to 38,000 and RN's start at $38,000 to 45,000. (minus sign on and moving bonuses of course.) But if you compare hourly pay EMS come up short every time. 0 Remember people will always fight tax increases no matter what the reason.
