I went through my local county mental health department.  I am not sure how it

would work where you live, but my first appointment was an intake interview.

This way, they can asses your needs and which counselor would best suit you.

It's based on income, so my fees are based on that.  And, I have insurance, so

I haven't had to pay for a session yet.  I hope this helps.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own

understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Counseling

So sorry to hear that, I know how hard it is. I found my current counselor only

by getting so desperate that I just started calling numbers and asking if they

had sliding scale fees and this one did. I think this group is a great support

system and I have never been more validated, most of the time, in terms of my

experience as a child of personality disordered parents. Plus the good thing

about this group is the experience goes two ways, every time someone here

reaches out with their story or their particular situation and shares it with

the group it is validating to all of us as well. Hugs.

the deductible by another $2,000. This might be something I would have tried to

meet before. But my kids were hospitalized with pneumonia and RSV the last two

years and I had a knee surgery. (Those who know me here may recall our plethora

of medical issues.)

continue incurring bills.

group. It really doesn't get any better than this forum. I am particularly

thankful that this group is here now. (I will continue to work with the

insurance company and see what else we can do.) But in the meantime, I'll be

reading posts. :-)
