Guest guest
Daughter, I'm sorry to hear about your insurance woes. I get it. Do you know that they clump Traumatic Brain Injury TBI under behavioral medicine? and as most of us know, this is the one area that insurance companies cant still get away with denial of coverage with impunity. How exactly can they get away with shoving what was OBVIOUSLY a physical trauma into behavioral issues! I have had multiple head injuries, the most recent was getting rear ended when I was sitting at a dead stop by a guy that was not paying attention to traffic and slammed into me going at least 25 mph even tho he was hitting the brakes when he hit me. add to that two concussions with loss of conscienceness and two other concussions that " rang my bell " but did not knock me out. After the rear end accident I had a minor procedure, but had to be put under and after that, my brain just quit working the way it had before. I had some testing done, and came out as having moderate TBI and the control group was brain injured military veterans! my insurance won't cover the testing to the tune of 1K and definitely won't pay for any therapies to try to correct it. GRRRRR. I truly think that getting help to mentally ill is going to be defining issue of this century along with education. But my kids were hospitalized with pneumonia and RSV the last two years and I had a knee surgery. (Those who know me here may recall our plethora of medical issues.) > > Anyway, we are over $10,000 in debt already on these medicals, so I cannot continue incurring bills. > > I hope you all don't mind that I just volunteered you to be my counseling group. It really doesn't get any better than this forum. I am particularly thankful that this group is here now. (I will continue to work with the insurance company and see what else we can do.) But in the meantime, I'll be reading posts. :-) > > Sincerely, > -Coal Miner's Daughter >
Guest guest
Thanks. I will try both calling around for sliding fees and checking in with the county mental health department. -Coal Miner's Daughter > > > > Hello Group, > > > > I just wanted to let you know that my insurance company decided to increase the deductible by another $2,000. Guest guest
Dear Janet, I am not big on " signs " or reading too much into coincidences - probably because my mom overdid this type of thing to the point of superstition and actually allowed fortune cookies, etc. to determine her life decisions. But - I did want to mention your verse: " Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. " This was particularly encouraging and affirming for me because I had thought of this very Scripture when I received the news about my loss of insurance coverage. This was a song we sang in Bible School as a child that I had have not thought of in a few years. When I remembered it and then saw it in your signature line, it reminded me that I don't have to control everything. Thanks! -Coal Miner's Daughter > > > > Hello Group, > > > > I just wanted to let you know that my insurance company decided to increase the deductible by another $2,000.
