Guest guest
metabolic disorder can cause all that From: Toni Marie Lombardo Sent: Wednesday, July 20, 2011 11:38 AM To: mb12valtrex Subject: Slow growing kid My son (ADHD, age 4, no meds yet) is a slow grower. My 6yr old daughter (Asperger's) is not.Of course the ADHD kid is extremely detail oriented and he KNOWS he is a slower grower (lol, rhyme)than my daughter.... she is like 80% for height, taller than older boys in her class, he is ~40% for height, shorter than the 4 yr old (younger) girls in his class, and he will be starting Kinder. So anyway! I had the DAN pull TSH and IGF-1 values for my son. BTW, I had growth hormone deficiency as a child. His TSH was 2.99, most say <3 is acceptable. Meh. And his IGF-1, acceptable range for his age is like 51-280ish, his was 54.Of course the lab did not "tick" low/high on those. He is also anemic.I am one who would use growth hormone injections since I myself benefited from these (too little too late for me, not started till I was 11)so I am wondering would those out there who WOULD do HGH for their child wait until the anemia was resolved, and the thyroid issue,or would you start HGH ASAP as well? (Or not at all since it's "in range", albeit barely?)I have not talked to the DAN yet on these, just got the values... but just looking for insight before the appt next week. :-)THANKS!!!PS Gave him an iron tab this morning and after an initial burst of hyperactivity (likely due to the B12 in the tablet) he has been focused andcalm all morning. o.O Don't tell me his ADHD is all because of anemia, OMG what an easy fix that would be.... I would be thankful and kicking myself as well! -- Toni------Mind like a steel trap...Rusty and illegal in 37 states.
