This is a busy group. I should probably rephrase what I had written earlier, the neuro looked at my MRI report and believed it to be MS and scheduled me for a spinal tap to gain more info, which I had performed Monday morning. That went fine, no headaches or leakage at all from that procedure. The only thing I hated was having to lay flat for 6 hours after. The Radiologist said it could be 2 days or 2 weeks before my neuro gets the results, depends. I'll be contacting my neuro tomorrow to see if he got the results so hopefully we can begin treatment soon.

As for my teaching, I am a special education teacher, 19 years, and do math. I am doing inclusion 7th grade this year, mostly math, with a few resource classes. I do a lot of walking this year which I don't mind. Not sure if any one at school has noticed the times I slur my speech, its iritating. I love working with my students and hopefully can continue with it.

I have a positive attitude about all this and trying not to let it get me down. What vitamins or supplements can anyone suggest?

We are a little talkative, aren't we Barbara? lol Great news that all went well with your LP! Please let us know when you hear from the doc. As far as supplements go... I stay away from anything that says it "boost immune system" because we already have a boosted, out of whack immune system. But I know there are others who do take such supplements and do fine with them. You should definitely stay away from echinacea. Here's a link for you on that subject:http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-981-ECHINACEA.aspx?activeIngredientId=981 & activeIngredientName=ECHINACEA. Under side effects it says:“Auto-immune disorders†such as such as multiple

sclerosis (MS), lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a skin disorder called pemphigus vulgaris, or others:

Echinacea might have an effect on the immune system that could make these conditions worse. Don’t take echinacea if you have an auto-immune disorder.hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Barbara,

I take 2000 units of vitamin D daily. I have read articles to support its use in people with MS.

I am also an Inclusion Special Ed teacher. I teach 2 periods of reading but the rest of my day is out in various classrooms—7th grade Language Arts and Math. Most of the day is spent on my feet walking around assisting students. My conference time is 1st period so it makes for a very long day. I take 200mg of Provigil daily to combat the fatigue. It has really made a big difference for me. I am able to go through the day without being totally exhausted by 4 pm.

Keep up the positive attitude...it makes all the difference in the world!!

Thanks Anne. My vitamin D is a D-3. I am a huge milk drinker and eat yogurt almost daily so I don’t worry too much about my calcium levels. My mom had terrible osteoporosis—multiple broken bones. Every winter she would break one or two—including her shoulder blade and femur. It was very painful for her.

I tried Cod Liver Oil once..... YUK!! I did it to induce labor—it didn’t work and tasted awful!!

I really need to get back to taking D. I did it for several years--started in Alaska because it helps with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). I ran out 3 years ago and just never got more. hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
