Guest guest
I wanted to share that I finally was able to go out to our big organic vegetable garden this morning. I sat in the shade of the elm tree outside the garden then was later able to pull some weeds inside the garden. Granted I only weeded for about 5 minutes but it's a start! Maybe I'm on the way to being better again? SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Yay! Every little bit helps, on weeding AND exercise... :-) Wish we'd gotten in a garden this year, but the weather's been so weird it might not have " took " anyway. Guest guest
Have you had chickens before, ? I hope you can get some--the fresh eggs are so much better than store eggs. Since you have electricity (and we don't) you can always keep them warm in winter with a light bulb or heat lamp hanging from the ceiling of their coop. With us being off-grid we can't do that. But on especially cold nights we heat rocks in the wood stove, drop them into a big can (those great big cans), cover it with foil and set it in the hen house on a disposable pie tin. It warms the house until their little body heat can warm up the house. hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Not since I was a kid in north GA - and my grandma's chickens didn't HAVE a coop, they were the ultimate in free-range! I think we need to build one of those " chicken tractors " - the coops you move around as needed. With only 2 of us, can't see we need too many birdies. The heating thing always makes me so nervous - so many sheds/barns/kennels burn up around here in the winter, taking the poor creatures inside with them! Hmm, Maybe solar... :-) in WY Practical Blackwork Designs " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
Do you have enough sun in the winter to heat with solar? There is a new homemade solar heater I am going to try making. It's made out of rain gutters and pop/beer cans. It's really interesting and I know people who have made them. One guy gets 150 degrees and the other one gets 146 degrees. It's called a Solar Pop Can Heater. If you want a link to one let me know. I'm impressed with them and especially with the idea of them being made mostly out of junk. I want one for the chickens and ducks. Maybe one for the turkeys too. Fancy birds, eh? lol SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Thanks . I feel good tonight--no sore legs yet. Bending over in the garden weeding can sure mess with my legs but so far so good. Guest guest
Great news Sharon. May I ask how you put your body to do the weeding? Seriously, if I bend over, I'm terrifed on falling on my face. And I cannot balance or sit on my knees ... they hurt like heck and I cannot get up. I have to extend my entire body and lift myself up with my arms. I'm banished from 's greenhouse ... he's afraid I'm going to fall and knock it over . But I have a little flower garden outside my front that doesn't get as much attention as it deserves ... hugs, Cait went to the garden this morning! Guest guest
It's odd, Cait, but I can bend over from the waist just fine. I can't squat though. Guest guest
Yep, me too. I can almost put my ELBOWS on the ground - it's an Ehlers-Danlos hypermobile thing. I used to be able to squat flat-footed, and pick up something off the ground with my teeth from that position, but no more. I've noticed lately that my right knee and right ankle no longer fully flex or extend. What's weird is that I can bend so far forward with no balance problems, but can't stand and tilt my head BACK at all! Is this true for you guys too? in WY Practical Blackwork Designs " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
Me tooo Sharon. That's how I was trying to explain how I get up from the floor/ground. Same way only backwards to your going over. I know I've given the neighbors quite a chuckle over my rear up in the air . I'll have to practise your way ...
