Hello Everyone:

I'm sorry about the lack of posts, but the busy bug has gotten to me.

It's been hard to post lately. I may resume at another time. These are the

remaining chapters in the book; facial steams, body baths, bath and massage

oils, body powders, shampoos, rinses, and conditioners, lip balm, eye

treatments, foot baths, hand and nail treatments, soap (mouthwashes and tooth

treatments included), suntanning cream, sunscreen, and after sun relief (

also includes insect repellent).

If anyone has any special requests I will try to oblige. Otherwise I

will post further from this book at another time.

Thank you,

Kareemah

*******Kareemah, i'd be very interested in the suntanning cream and

sunscreen. Thanks so much for posting all these recipes, i've saved a number

of them! Don't feel *obliged* though, to post them...i think you've almost

rewritten the book here! :)

Hello Everyone:

Tis the season for some sunscreen, tra la la la la la la la la! :())

Okay here it is.

During and After-Sun Body Lotion

Good for: normal and dry skin

Use: daily or as desired

Prep time: approx. 40 mins.

Mix with: whisk

Store in: plastic squeeze bottle

Yields: approx. 8 applications

Special: Leaves skin very soft and smooth.

Can be used as a regular moisturizing lotion.

4 TBSP aloe vera gel

2 TBSP chamomile, comfrey, or fennel tea

2 TBSP anhydrous lanolin

3/4 cup grapeseed or apricot kernal oil

1 tsp borax

1 TBSP beeswax

1 TBSP cocoa butter

15 drops essential oil of sandalwood or carrot seed

In a med-sized saucepan over low heat or in a double boiler, combine the

lanolin, oils

(except essential oil), beeswax, and cocoa butter, and heat just until wax is

melted. In another small saucepan, warm the aloe vera gel and herb tea.

Slowly stir in the borax until dissolved. Remove both pans from heat.

Slowly pour the borax mixture into the wax/oil mixture while stirring

constantly with your whisk. Stir occasionally while it cools. When almost

cool, add essential oil and stir again to mix. Store. Use approx. 3 TBSP

per use. Discard after 30 days. Does not provide sun protection.

Sunscreen Body Oil

Good for: normal and dry, dark or tanned skin or when minimal sunscreen

protection is desired

Use: before and during sun exposure

Prep time: approx. 10 mins

Mix with: shake before use

Store in: plastic squeeze bottle

Yields: approx. 9 applications

Special: makes a great after bath skin softner

1/4 cup anhydrous lanolin

1/4 light sesame oil

4 tsp vitamin E oil

1/4 cup sweet almond oil

1/3 cup aloe vera gel

15 drops essential oil of sandalwood or bitter almond

Combine all ingredients in one or two squeeze bottles. Store the bottle

you're not using in the refrigerator. Use approx. 2 TBSP per use. Use

unrefrigerated oil within 3 weeks or discard.

Sunburn Relief Suggestions

1. Add 2 cups apple cider vinegar to cool bath and soak for 10 to 20 mins.

2. Apply cold aloe vera gel directly to sunburn. Apply several times per day.

3. Apply cold, strong, regular tea directly to sunburn with soaked cotton

pads. Apply several times per day.

Okay everyone Happy Sunning,

Hope these are Helpful

Please, the suntanning cream and sunscreen. My kids will be starting

swim lessons in a couple of weeks and in Phoenix you're considered an

incompetent and dangerous mother if you don't slather them with

chemicals every time they peep outside!

Dear Kareemah,

You are so sweet and patient to do all this typing for us. Actually all

the other things you list sound wonderful, but I couldn't ask you to post

another thing. What is the name and author of your book? Perhaps we could

buy it and save you form carpel tunnel syndrome:)

Oh that's okay I enjoyed typing up these recipies. It's just that I have

gotten busy with homeschooling and preparing for my up and coming homebirth (

God Willing). I've also been busy trying to clean my big backyard because I

want to have a summer camp for my son's, neices and nephews at the end of

this month. I've been so busy that I hardly get on the computer.

The book is great, and I love having it on my shelf. The title is The

Herbal Body Book and the author is Tourles. This is a great

publishing company. I also have their soap making book, and I currently have

one of their books from the library about making salves, syrups, tinctures,

etc. I want to by this one to add to my collection. If you all would like

the title and author of this book I will post it next time.
