Constipation. Help!

I am sure constipation has been discussed before, but I am chronically short on

time, so I'd prefer not to go through all the past postings related to it. I

need any and all ideas to combat constipation. Even if your suggestions conflict

with each other. Don't be shy. I am desperate. Just don't say Miralax. Miralax

is my own drug of choice and necessity and I love it and I overuse it and I am

prepared for untimely death from it, but of course, I would not give it to my

kid, even though her urologist says we should. Just need some natural ideas;

food, supplements, etc. This is one kid who can't afford to get constipated;

holding poop causes the holding of urine which causes urinary tract infections

in her defective-from-birth urinary tract system and then she requires

hospitalizations with IV antibiotics, etc.

Magnesium Citrate... you can get it in drink powder, flavored liquid at Walgreens or capsules and tablets. The glass bottles at Walgreens have the flavors with coloring, I would recommend the lemon lime, I think no colors in that one.

Also they say Aloe Juice is good... you can get that at the Vitamin Shoppe, along with the other forms of magnesium.Pumpkin seeds might be a natural thing that's good... good minerals and also anti-parasitic.

We have of course used probiotics, yeast protocols and limiting sugar. But have also found good luck with homeopathic drainage remedies as well. Best of luck!RuthSent from my iPhone

Hi, Try Milk of Magnesia (1200 mg using wild cherry flavor liquid), no known side effects.I started with my daughter, 41 lbs, 6 years old, 5 ml then went to 10 ml, and nowdoing BM, not constipated, everyday. Follow the directions on the bottle, it'shigher in dosage. I hope this one work. Trial and error, if too soft, lowerthe dose until you get the right one everyday. So right not, I'm giving her10 ml every night before sleeping. If this one won't work, try mineral oil enema but harder. I did not trythis to my kid because I know she will be frustrated and won't follow directions. as mehl said magnesiium is really good stuff.

also i used castor oil packes on tummy for an hour two times day. i would put the castor oil packs on my sons tummy at night when he was calm and watching a movie...just get castor oil put on stomach with thin cotton cloth over it then hot water bottle then plastic bag of some sort and finally towel on top of that.

that is not the exact protocol it is my version and it worked..also about teaspoon of pyslium powder on empty tummy in morning mixed in apple sauce worked for my kid too.

our 3 yo NT daughter is very constipated. She sees the same DAN as our 4yo asd

son. Our daughter is not GFCF so check if these are legal as i'm not confident

that all of the suggestions for constipation from our DAN are GFCF compliant.

Beet juice - this really started her going. The beet needs to be at least the

size of an egg for it to be effective. it's hard to mask the favor.

We tried cellouse poweder but it made the juice really thick and hard to drink.

We also tried trifala also helped but it's hard to mask the flavor unless your

child swallows pills. Oxypowder also helped her start going after 8 days!

What is working the best is Buddy Bear GentleLax by renew life but it contains

milk protein and chocolate flavoring.

Sincerely, Mardi

I would use castor oil. The taste is not at all good. The effect starts within 4 to 5 hours. I use it myself when I am due for colonoscopy (for my ulcerative colitis). Make sure to keep the user super hydrated.

Avoid using more than 1 teaspoonful for a child, else it may look like diarrhea. / Noel

Throw out the Miralax! They say the molecules are too large to permeate the

gut, but that is not the case for anyone w/leaky gut. I saw a report on a govt

website re the # of deaths it causes per year.

We can't use juice because of the yeast feeding (and resulting bed wetting), but

we do like Miracle Fiber from Vitamin Shoppe. No, I have no connection to the

product, except as a consumer. My son's nurses tell their other clients about

how well it works.

Sometimes we use a little mag cit, too - anywhere from 1-3 teaspoons to 60 ml

(or more, but rarely) - depending on how bad it is.

the only thing that has ever worked here is Movicol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movicol

oxypowder had ZERO effect, even in very high doses, the same with

magnesium or prune juice, of fig syrup or fibres (actually fibres made

it worse here). Senna did help, but only occasionally - you cannot use

it constantly as effects wear off. We have been using Movicol for nearly

a year now with occasional breaks and still works fine, no problems.

Also, peaches, plumes, pears and apricots will help poop. Good luck! Judy Subject: Re: Constipation. Help! To: mb12valtrex Date: Monday, September 19, 2011, 9:06 PM Throw out the Miralax! They say the molecules are too large to permeate the gut, but that is not the case for anyone w/leaky gut. I saw a report on a govt website re the # of deaths it causes per year.We can't use juice because of the yeast feeding (and resulting bed wetting), but we do like Miracle Fiber

from Vitamin Shoppe. No, I have no connection to the product, except as a consumer. My son's nurses tell their other clients about how well it works.Sometimes we use a little mag cit, too - anywhere from 1-3 teaspoons to 60 ml (or more, but rarely) - depending on how bad it is.>> Vitamin C, magnesium (epsom salt), kefir, aloe vera juice, apples juice, prune juice, digestive enzymes, probiotics.> Â > Â > > > To: mb12valtrex > Sent: Monday, September 19, 2011 11:08 AM> Subject: Constipation. I need any and all ideas to combat constipation. Even if your suggestions conflict with each other. Don't be shy. I am desperate. Just don't say Miralax. Miralax is my own drug of choice and necessity and I love it and I overuse it and I am prepared for untimely death from it, but of course, I would not give it to my kid, even though her urologist says we should. Just need some natural ideas; food, supplements, etc. This is one kid who can't afford to get constipated; holding poop causes the holding of urine which causes

urinary tract infections in her defective-from-birth urinary tract system and then she requires hospitalizations with IV antibiotics, etc.>

Yes. Worms can cause constipation. Die off can cause diahrea.
