If I may ask a

personal question. Can anyone tell me about their personal experiences

with applying for social security disability? I have contacted our local

congressman and they have had it flagged that they are watching it. I am

in the process of obtaining all medical records. was a long haul

truck driver and now with insulin he cannot, by federal law, drive a truck

anymore. He has had the same type of job for 22 years. He now has

the MS and the cervical spinal stenosis. Even on just the insulin dependent

issue since it’s not allowed by federal law should be a huge help.

Thoughts?

our daughter in law is applying for it too. They told her it will take 4-5 mo to see if she is approved. You called your congressmen and they are watching his file? I didn't know they could do that. Keep us posted.

nne,

            On

the recommendation of the owner of the company that my husband used to work for

I contacted our congressman.  Very helpful!  They put a flag on the application

to indicate they are watching the process.  I hope that is a help.  They told

us three months for a decision.  Thanks for sharing you story.

nne,

            Thank

you.  We could use all the thoughts and prayers people can spare.  being

put on insulin for his diabetes puts him federally out of being able to drive a

truck.  He has been a truck driver for 22 years.  Never out of work.  The

congressman’s office told me that SS doesn’t necessarily decide if you are disabled.

But they determine if you are able to do the job you were doing.  So, based on

that, and the federal law, he would be eligible on that dx alone.

Sholanda,

            Thanks

for your reply.  We will be OK financially once SSDI does come through.  I have

income and we have three children under 18.  I know that after getting SSDI we

will be over the limits for things.

My advice is to get all your medical records. ALL. Never leave it up to Social Security to get your records or trust doctors to send all your records. When you send the application send copies of all the records with the application. I will look for more information for you. SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Sharon,

It’s so true that we have to stand up for

ourselves.  No one else will do it for you.  I took care of my father before he

passed away two years ago.  I know how things work and what to ask and do.
