Biphasic monitors

I recently found out that one of our LP 12 monitors is a biphasic defib.

with the capability of charging to 360 joules of biphasic energy.

My question is; If we start at 200 joules and do not get the expected

response, should we increase the energy to 300 joules then 360 joules.

Of course I am assuming this would be patient specific, i.e. large

person, morbidly obese. Anyone with some input or answer please let me

know.

Thanks,

Good morning all,

Thanks for the multiple responses.  I was able to make contact with my Medical

Directors " eyes and ears " and he posed the question to our M.D.  Our medical

director is ordering the use of the biphasic monitor to begin at 200 joules and

to increase the energy to 300 and then 360 joules if the desired/expected

response is not achieved.  Of course this will be pt. specific.  It will be

implemented into our protocols shortly.

Again, thanks for your help.
