To: mb12valtrex Sent: Wednesday, December 7, 2011 11:19 AMSubject: pediatric graves disease or autoimmune thyroiditis Sigh. Got back labs for both kids today. Gabi's still going strong with her dx (TPO antibodies high)and her TSH is almost indetectable (meaning her thyroid is going berzerk)AND my son now is making antibodies to his thyroid. WTF.I thought we were two steps forward one step back but now it feels like one step forward two steps back !!!!!!!!!I don't know that there is anything that can be done. Anyone else out there going thru this?Toni

Guest guest
Lab corp, has a test to rule out Graves Disease. Also if you are supplementing iodine you may want to stop, as the thyroid gland could be holding on to iodine and that can contribute to to Hyper thyroid. My son just went thru this ordeal and finally it is resolved, after using Blood pressure meds to lower his heart rate, which was racing, and a anti thyroid med to lower the T3/ T4 levels. It was due to, having too much iodine in his thyroid gland. Alot of DR's think its okay to do iodine loading, but we found out the hard way, it can be VERY DANGEROUS! While going thru this, its also important to feed your child frequent healthy meals, and lots of liquids as this can cause extreme wt loss and many other things could go severely wrong. > > Sigh. Guest guest
Unfortunately, we may be having a problem now with the iodine trnasdermal we are using...normally it helps for hypothyroid from what I have been told but my son's tsh has be rising since we started in dec. I am also noticing that I am feeling more hypothroid too (i take thyroxine for hashimotos hypothyroid)...but this could also be from me forgetting to take my pills regularly:)...anyway, we are stopping the iodine now and will be doing more labs in a couple weeks....-- Sent from my Palm Pre can you tell me what iodine you were using ? were you supplementing any? or was your son just high on iodine without any supplement? thanks, channa To: mb12valtrex Sent: Thursday, March 1, 2012 9:45 AMSubject: Re: pediatric graves disease or autoimmune thyroiditis Lab corp, has a test to rule out Graves Disease.
