Elevated BUN/Creatinine ratio indicates dehydration but I would need both the

numbers to tell you how serious it could be. Is it possible to give me other

electrolyte numbers also including sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarb.

I am an internist and a pediatrician can comment on it better but to my

knowledge, labs report the ranges which are for adults and they hardly take into

account that the patient is a child. BUN/Cr ratio is normally higher in children

under the age of 10 years, primarily owing to the relatively low serum

creatinine(lower body mass as compared to adults). According to the values you

sent me, it doesn't look like that your child is dehydrated. Since your child is

<10 years old, a BUN/Cr ratio of >60 would warrant an evaluation by a doctor

right away. If your child does not appear dehydrated then you don't need to

worry about these numbers. Just get the numbers evaluated by a pediatrician when

you get a chance as I don't know the full history of your child and do not want

to rule out anything just based on these numbers.

Good luck
